Bambu Lab Beta Testing Program

Hi Everyone,

We are happy to announce the launch of our Beta Testing Program.

While we do a lot of in-house testing for our firmware, we believe that we can improve the quality by reaching a larger pool of users during the Beta testing period.

If you like tinkering with your printer, and want to help provide feedback about the upcoming features in our firmware, then feel free to apply using the application form below.

This particular sign-up is for the X1 Series of printers.

After the sign-up period, we will check your applications and send invites privately.

Thank you for your support.

Hello,

Yes, it will be possible to revert easily to the previous variant of the firmware, if needed.

Thanks

If we were to test it and something broke the whole (or part of the) printer would you repair/replace it free of charge (including shipping) ?

Any chance of throwing a p1p or carbon my way so I could beta test as I currently don’t own a bambu printer :sob:

What is the reward for participating in this firmware testing?

My wife and I are in. She sent the app a little bit ago. We have plenty and more coming so we can easily run the new firmware on a couple of them.

Would it be possible to turn this into a super user group to add additional features. We really want a dashboard for all the printers for status, time to done, etc.

I’m in, can’t wait to test the new features of my X1CC :slightly_smiling_face:

I want to do it, but I would need a way to quickly go back to the released firmware just in case the beta is screwed up. I would hate to be down for days waiting for a fix.

EDIT: I see someone asked above and they say you can. So, I’m in.

Hi,

Is the firmware expected to be open sourced at some point? I would love to help with feedback, but as a dev I could also help by submitting the fixes.

Hello @BrotherC, my email has a “+bambu” in it so I can tag emails from bambu. The form for beta testing doesn’t allow for it.

No, there’s no expectation of that.

OK thanks, that’s bad news for me. Out of curiosity, was the info published somewhere and I missed it, or are you part of the Bambu Team ?

They stated that if the company goes under they’d release the firmware.

For how they’ve outright refused to provide any way to update aside from with an internet connection (despite the fact the hardware fundamentally supports update via micro SD), and their lack of information release around even the most basic of non-standard G-code commands, it’s clear they consider it important to keep as much as possible secret.

I applied. This will help satisfy my “need to tinker” obsession.

I have the same issue. I opened a support case so they can hopefully add me to the beta signup.

Just wondering when the beta program will begin and the expected timeframe of when we’ll be notified. Also, will this require that we do a manual upgrade the beta firmware? I’m assuming it will not not automatically update for beta testers. Is that correct? Looking forward to contributing. RG

The accepted Beta Testing Program users have been added. Thank you for the huge amount of interest for the Beta.

Please check your forum notifications for more information. If you received an invite on the forum, then you have been accepted.

At the same time, please remember to read the pinned thread on the Beta category and follow all the instructions there.

Thanks!
