I have a Bambu Lab P1S 3D printer, during months it was ok, one random day it stopped connecting to the WIFI, I tried:
Resetting the printer, deleting mobile and Mac apps and reconnecting
Splitting the Bands(2.4GHz and 5G) in my Xfinity XB8 gateway (each band with different names) and do not use any special characters:
My network name is simple 4Gmercury207 and password eduardodiaz007 → When trying to Bind at the time to set the WIFI password it always returns “incorrect password” despite I know is right.
Setting up WIFI data in a file named ‘user_wifi.cfg’ at root level on the SD card → It keeps IP address as 0.0.0.0, which means the DNS was not resolved by the gateway
Create a ticket for Bambu labs and sending them the logs from the printer → They sent a new antenna, got the same result after 1 day of being successfully connected.
I see recommendations to change WIFI 2.4 channel, sadly with Xfinity XBxxx models that is not possible.
When I try connecting to my cellphone’s hotspot I can connect and works fine, still, this is just a workaround and need the phone all time connected to the printer (if I leave and come back is hard to reconnect again), so I know the antenna is fine.
I tried also Lan Only Mode → It connected to my computer but I cannot send anything, it returns timeout.
So, basically I have a humongous expensive brick right now, is so annoying, can you guys provide any help? Honestly Bambu Labs support sucks
This points to the printer wifi working correctly and the issue being with your network/router.
Often a cheap and simple wifi router such as netgear connected to your wired network seems to work best for users that have reoccurring issues with higher end wifi routers.
As CarbonForge already said: What kind of troubleshooting do you plan to do? You’ve already found the problem.
Otherwise, you can also check out this thread - it really covers everything:
Buying a decent router? Otherwise, maybe it’s also because of these weird features that this router has. Maybe your router thinks your printer needs to be blocked.
“It blocks billions of threats annually with Xfinity CyberSecure and is made to do anything, so you can do everything.”
If you check their forum, the last “real deal” firmware updates for the XB8 series were two years ago. That’s just one of the downsides of renting subscription routers.
Strictly speaking, it’s not really a router, but rather a subscription-based app hub.
When it works with your hotspot do you have the phone closer to the printer than your gateway is?
Do you have walls, a microwave, furniture between the printer and the gateway? From what I have seen the reception/range on the wi-fi units for these printers can be weak.
I am guessing you already tried power cycling the gateway, leave unplugged for 20 seconds at least. I have an older xfinity gateway and I have to periodically roll it because the 2.4 side will start haveing issues with some devices.
My P1S is on LAN only and it took several tries to get the cfg to work (this has been almost 2 years so things are a little fuzzy) but once I was able to get 0.0.0.0 I was then able to enable LAN mode on the printer control panel, get the SID to show, then a reboot of printer gave me a connection and then I set an IP reservation.
Some people seem to have better luck also makeing sure security type is WPA2-Personel.
