R1, huh?.. Hmm… so not a new 3d printer but a LEM?!?
“Meet Bambu Lab R1, the first laser engraver and cutter from Bambu Lab that helps you create with more materials. From 3D printing to laser, we’re building your personal manufacturing hub. Coming soon”
Visible beam. Typical gantry-style fill-engraving fine-lines, so yet another diode laser, possibly with air-assists.
Makes sense if they want to maximize the laser/cutter module’s dev cost but, nothing unique. I don’t see the value proposition over what’s already out there (with way better laser-specific software too)
It seem Bambu is jumping on another train. There are other very successful companies dealing with rays. I guess there is a high profit margin and it fits well into the eco system.
Just something so they can drop more materials in the shop to try and sell ya. I wouldnt be surprised if its just another dime a dozen standalone laser engraver and they use their current H series laser’s modified for a new laser specific frame.
I’d be happy if they would inject some innovation into their old trains.
Hopefully, they won’t make the mistake that many young companies do when they start to earn significant amounts of money: trying to do too much at once without focusing on their core product and innovating in this area.
For example, the A1/A1Mini, and actually the A2 as well, which was really just an A1.5. Also, areas like Support - or MakerWorld, which is completely neglected.
Improving the quality of core products doesn’t seem to be on Bambu’s radar anymore.
Complete new model ?,or bound to be a addon ?, or just competion for a comptitors model R1 ?
A standalone device. Not a 3D printer, not an add-on. A laser engraver and cutter.
This could be really hit or miss depending on pricing.
If they can keep it under $1000 for a 40W laser, good. Will they do that? Probably not.
I think they could do really good with a 10W system for somewhere around $300.
A rhetorical question is a question asked for effect, rather than requiring an answer.
I don’t think the will enter the market (standalone laser/cutter) on the budget side.
But BambuSuite gets regular updates.
Very interested in the software and ecosystem integration for this
I am not expecting any major hardware advances in this, but there’s huge space to update laser cutter software.
One thing that i would really like is some sort of laser engraver and cutter but that releases almost no smoke and smell, since I live in a building and i don’t want the neighbors to complain.
(Also it would be nice for it to be different sizes, like 180x180mm (A1 mini size), 256mm (P,X,A series) and 32mm (h series)) since I wouldn’t use it for very large projects
Good software would be huge.
XTool has good machines, but their software is terrible. Creality has decent software, but their machines are lacking.
exactly wood is on ground surface which suggest to be a complete machine it also introduce it self with its own letter it could be a response to xtool (who plan to join the 3d printing world)
Bambu Doing their own dedicated laser style machine is a nice way to protect your customer from looking around, xtool been releasing a lot great product lately and they’re interested in the 3d printing industry.
Pretty cool product if it’s in fact a standalone laser zapper machine. I’d definitely be interested in one for the wife’s company. Never understood the logic behind popping a hot smoky laser into a very precise and pristine 3D printer. Just a bad day waiting to happen. So this is great news if it’s finally a standalone machine.
Laser engraver not located in a damn printer? Sounds good.
It’s actually OK for home workshops if the laser is only used occasionally. Most people don’t have enough workbench space for a full machine shop.
