Hello!
I just got the PS1 from the global region since none of the other markets work for me and US store don’t ship to PO, I asked to be shipped to China (From the Global region market)
What are the chances of getting one locked printer?
I cannot cancel the order anymore and support does not seem to be replying.

My major concern is the printer not getting firmware updates and not to be able to use the app and monitor remotely those are the features that I liked the most from the printer

Works perfect for me.
A1 with AMS lite, update both, the printer is 01.04.00.00 now

I have purchased 3 machines via the Global region to Aramex Hong Kong and had them shipped to me, the machine is not locked down to China.

It’s too bad to have the region lock. At least Bambu should have a paid solution to convert the machine from the domestic version to the global version.
I have a pretty complicated solution to the networking problem for now. Push tasks on the phone or firmware upgrades are available. But it’s really too much of a hassle and most of the time I just use LAN mode.
LAN mode isn’t really stable either.

I hope someone (either officially or another friend) can fix this. It’s indeed possible that someone used it in China before and brought the machine overseas afterward. It doesn’t make sense to simply and brutally lock the machine. It’s just a lazy policy.

Hi there, I want to buy an A1 from mainland China. I understand that the warranty is going to be void. What are the restrictions?

  1. During setup
  2. During normal working? I understand I might not be able to connect the Handy app. But does LAN mode still work and can the computer be connected to Bambu Handy?
  3. Kindly share how you push tasks on the phone. I’m stranded and this will help me make a better buy decision. I think I’ve come to accept that I can live without cloud

Handy does not work in LAN only mode, for any printer, anywhere.

I do not know all the restrictions on a region-locked printer, I have never seen an A1.

I can setup and use my non-region-locked X1C from Studio in LAN-only mode, without being logged in to Studio, binding the printer to my Bambu account, or using the Bambu cloud.

For myself, I do not think I would ever buy a China-locked printer. I would purchase any non-restricted printer of any age or brand rather than take the chance that I would end up with an expensive paperweight.

I bought a Chinese version of a A1 when I was in China.
When I came home, I was not able to connect my phone to the A1 for controlling the A1 and follow the print, and also update the firmware due to the region lock.
After a lot of hassle, I finally made the connection between my phone and the A1.

  1. Inserted a Chinese SIM card to my phone. (Must be able to use SMS in the process)
  2. Make a Chinese version of iCloud
  3. Download the Chinese version of the Bambu Handy.
  4. Make a Chinese Bambu Handy account
  5. Connected my A1 to my phone by shared net on my phone and 5G
  6. Scanned the QR code for China
  7. Updated the firmware
  8. Disconnected my phone wifi to the A1
  9. Connected my A1 to my home Wifi
  10. Changed my Chinese SIM to my local SIM
  11. Logged on to my local iCloud
  12. I am now able to use my Chinese version of Bambu Handy to my A1 on my local Wifi.
    Hope this helps and I have not forgotten any steps during the prosess.

Update!
I lost contact to my A1 on my Ipad, Iphone and MAC. Still able to connect to my A1 by LAN.
If I insist, I could get access again by switching to my Chinese Icloud and reconnect, but LAN will work for me.
The A1 is updated to the newest firmware, and that was my initial goal. To be able to connect my A1 without using LAN was a bonus.

Hey, I’m from Mongolia as well. I’ve been looking to get an a1 or a1 mini as well, and could i ask you how badly the region lock has been affecting you? As you said you can print from the SD Card and if so then i’m not sure what other problems there are, is it just the way the printer gets the model and the wifi access??
