Bambu stops shipping to NZ but still lists it for gift card redemption

I know the feeling I was after bulk ASA Aero and PLA Aero, if you can get it locally its priced through the roof but for the most part you simply can’t.

I am heading to creality with the K2 Plus, I will keep my BBL but will only buy generic filament for it and will only buy BBL for spare parts.

I don’t do Social media but I agree with the concept, I don’t do X, facebook, or any other social convention weirdness barring reddit so might I suggest a BBL for NZrs on Reddit which we get everyone to join and arrange bulk ordering.

I know that many are, I can’t comment specifically on filaments buy can give you an example of something I brought in which landed, including freight and G.S.T ( when it was at 12.5% ) I could buy at .37 USD, was being sold by retailers at over 4000% mark up. what cost me $111 USD for 300 units would cost well over 5000$ NZD

That wouldn’t help
Do you really believe that such a corporate decision is made out of the blue?
It will have already been calculated - and NZ will have been identified as too small a market.

For every company, it is ultimately a question of cost/benefit calculation. If the hassle or the costs for transportation become unbearable, it may be better for the company in the long term to simply outsource this completely to resellers.

Well its there business they can do what they please, personally I will not buy another BBL product and that includes filament - completely generic for the X1C until it karks it. In the mean time the money I am spending on FDM now will go to Creality an possibly Prusa… I am still considering if the Prusa XL is enough of a change to be worth purchasing one.

Either way I have a small fortune to spend on FDM and BBL wont see another dime of it.

Why don’t you try and spend it on creating a competitive reseller in NZ serving people like you? Become a company and put those scalping NZ resellers out of business and serve your community!

I can really understand you (even if everyone thinks they’re spending a fortune ;D), but … that just doesn’t bother BL. You’re just one small number among many. That’s not meant to be mean or anything - but that’s the way it is with many companies. NZ just seems to be a small fish compared to the rest.

Amazing fixed price offer from marvle3d. Very competitive…

Not even competive with themselves… it is only $1999 on their own website. Although to be fair I have no idea what is included with the $2404 offer,

The authorised resellers may not yet have their full stock so the full range of parts and filament may become available in time… or they might which would be dissapointing.

Either way if I need a part for my printer that I am unable to source locally I will get it from their US shop and ship it here vai NZ Posts youshop service. (which is of course an absurdly bad idea for fillament with shipping rates of about $27 per kg from memory).

As others have pointed out there are many filament deals available locally that are neither extortionate or rubbish quality. The RFID on bambu filament is a really nice feature, however I have eyes and can cope with selecting the correct filament in my slicer.

Basically your money is your money. Spend it how you will. Bambu Lab printers are still as good today as they were last year. However they have encouraged everyone else to lift their game and there are now many other great choices out there to choose from. These choices are growing and (mostly) getting better all the time.

NZD 2,404 is actually €1,307.36, which is way to much to charge for P1S combo…at least compared to the prices charged for in Europe.

It is an offer from an auction on the same product, which was $2,090.00.

Hopefully this math is all ok, and helps anyone make a purchasing decision.

If I made any mistakes let me know and I’ll edit/update.

I spoke with Amazon about this as some of it is confusing. My issue was this note on 1k+ items (p1s+ams).

Amazon states:

Prices for items sold by Amazon AU and third party sellers include NZ GST (if applicable). For items sold by Amazon Global Store, NZ GST will be calculated at checkout.

NZ GST is not shown at checkout at all for the p1s+ams. It is lumped into the import fees deposit but nowhere does it specify this includes GST.

P1S on Amazon, because is under 1k AUD currently on sale, is calculated with GST at checkout, when it is over $1k NZD. Amazon error, but whatever works.
Your total payment in the Amazon cart would be the full payment P1S incl GST incl Shipping no further costs.

Items: NZD 1,109.34
Delivery: NZD 124.71
Order Total: NZD 1,234.06
Payment Total: AUD 1,110.65
Your payment method will be charged in AUD . Learn more.
Order totals include estimated NZ GST.

Saves you about $264 NZD.

P1S+AMS. Import fees deposit includes estimated GST and DUTY. DUTY should be refundable, so use the What’s My Duty estimator - New Zealand Customs Service calculator to figure out what the import fees deposit covers, and the difference is the refund you should receive (at request I imagine) from Amazon.

So Amazon p1s+ams should be $1834.13 landed, saving you only around $160NZD. You will need a customs client code to complete the purchase. Customs will intercept the package, or DHL hold it (not sure which) until you pay the GST.

Check MindKits or Marvel3d. Considering the exchange rate, shipment costs, import fees, and GST, prices on printers, spare parts, and filaments are about the same as those on BambuLab Global.

With Amazon AU it does not show clearly where GST is included and what is included in the import fees deposit. You can get this information once you have made your purchase and got the invoice.
I found it kind of dodgy.
If you use the Babbu Global printer price as the reference and add GST to it, it would match the price Amazon AU is showing at checkout. Does it mean GST is already included in the price? And what is included in the import fee deposit because it is way higher than customs import duty?
Another thing, with a 20% discount price of the printer is falling under 1K. Why is Amazon still charging import fee deposit?

DHL would deal with customs on your behalf. They will guide you to get the customs code and you will pay customs online through them. Not sure about the companies, with post services you have to deal with customs yourself, it’s not difficult.

Bamby Global stopped shipments to Australia, UK, and Canada as well. So it seems to be a global change in the operational model. Bambu is now relying on local authorized resellers.

This is why I posted and spoke with csr and explained what is going on above. Import fees deposit is GST + DUTY + Overhead to cover uncertainties.

I thought I explained this too. P1S without ams comes under 1k AUD but not 1k NZD. They are not charging an import fees deposit. They are charging GST at checkout as per low value goods import rules. Incorrectly done, but at least it’s clear.

In the case of Amazon you will never pay customs directly or via DHL. This is handled by the import fees deposit you pay Amazon in advance.

Oof, hopefully they have a bit more of a competitive market.

That’s in addition to them yeeting 3rd Party Access to the printers under the guise of security too.

Well, of course, it is your choice. I found that Bamby PETG and ABS filaments are performing the best in a similar price range. Considering that Marvel3D is selling it in bundles - 10 refills for $267, you’ll hardly find anything better for this price.

And all this NZ stuff is irrelevant as Bambu locked down their printers and now require authorisation to run them, even in network mode. Search for Lois Rossman’s explanation on YouTube: “Bambu Lab firmware update forces cloud dependency & user lock-in”.

So long, Bambu
