Automatic Support generation changed in Version 2 of Bambu Studio.
I noticed Version 2.x of Bambu Studio generates less Supports. I noticed it because there where complaints for my model, which i uploaded after many successfull test with version 1.x.
Is there any way to get back to the old generation scheme? I know i could add manual supports, but that will take some time for testing again…
I’m having the same problem, but differently. I have a super tuned box I sell that uses support material with extremely fine tuned z offsets and ‘normal’ painted supports. But whenever I open any of the several 3MFs I have for these boxes, it changes support to Tree (Auto), and when I switch it back to ‘Normal’ they look totally different, with layer directions changed and support interface settings reset to defaults. I’ve had to re-install V1.x to stay in business. This is horrible. The fine tuned settings are critical to remove the support material (Support for PLA as interface with a z-offset of 0.075mm and independent support layer height, and about a dozen other settings that took months to dial in).
Yes, thats even worse… but theres hope: i checked the model in orca slicer: 2.20 had the same supports as bambu 2.x, but 2.30 looked like bambu 1.10 again, so maybe this is only a temporary issue…
Well, it doesn’t seem to be just the support generation that is affected. Check out my post, I have similar issues with the latest version of Bambu Studio.
Yep same issue here…been printing the same file for over a year…
No problems…
Put in 2.0 and tree supports are used instead…and now wont use the full size of the build plate…
Went back to the old software until Bambu sort themselves out…
Pretty dissapointing I must say
I ran into the exact same issue last night. I was up until 3am trying to get one of my vital prints for my best selling product to work, but this “new” support system would not work on this print. I think i tried every possible way of adding supports but it would never make it like it was before the update and would fail the print every time. I had to roll back the update or I would not be able to finish my orders.
Also now experiencing supports just broken, 2.0 showing nothing but interface when I add 3 copies of this bracket, while 1.X shows the full support structure:
I just have updated to 2.0.1.50 and it is even worse.
It seems, that this version does not support one headed printers at all.
All support is printed with one Filament, so that the filament has to be changed in every layer. Horrible.
You cannot reduce the support Material just for the interface.
It prints the whole tree with that, even if you configure the basis for standard.
I just came looking for answers because I have this exact same problem (all printing with one filament / switching every layer)… I guess it’s time to download the old version.
