Hi.
I am not aware of any of the shelf solutions. I mean within the slicer.
If this is important to you, there are solutions.
The .3mf file is a compressed archive file where your project and the metadata from the Maker World project are stored. So you can access the files and delete the MW project data.
An overview of the procedure:
Make a copy of your .3mf file so you can recover it in case of failure.
Unarchive the file. The software depends on the OS (e.g., Windows - WinZip, WinRAR, etc.)
You will get a folder where files are organised in other folders. In summary, you have assets (e.g. pictures, models, settings) shared and âinterpretedâ by the slicer through XML files. So, in your case, you need to edit which data is transmitted by editing the XML files.
If successful, you use the same program as in 1 to compress the folder into an archive file (.zip, .rar) and change the file extension to .3mf.
Regarding step 2, I cannot give you a standard solution as it depends highly on shared content. Just do one thing at a time and try again if you fail. If you are still interested in doing this, let me know, as I can share further details on the procedure.
This is what I found out today. If you download an 3mf file and it is filled with project data, pictures and even a different name on the âprint profile nameâ than what you are currently doing with that file and just want to change it, the fastest way is to upload it to Bambu Studio as âprivateâ with the name you want then download it back to your computer. It will clear out all the old project data and keep all your settings and profiles. Now when you go to print it will be called the name you gave it. Then just delete it off your profile in Bambu Studio online.
Here is the hardcore way to wipe project information from a 3MF file:
MODEL="model.3mf"
cp -n "$MODEL" "$MODEL,bak"
mkdir -p 3D && unzip -c "$MODEL" >3D/3dmodel.model
${EDITOR:-vi} 3D/3dmodel.model # Remove and adapt attributes, but know what you're doing
zip -d "$MODEL" "Auxiliaries/*"
zip "$MODEL" 3D/3dmodel.model
# Load into Bambu Studio and check the "Project" tab
Not for the faint of heart! I might write a small Python script doing this.
There have been no Project tab changes in Studio, because it works with Makerworld, just as Bambu wants.
If you want a similar feature for your own private projects, Orca Slicer uses that tab to provide some ability to add pictures, spreadsheets, PDFs, and text files to your .3mf project files. The feature needs some polishing, but I donât think it is a high priority for the developers. It was not mentioned in the release notes when they made the change.
I find it a little bit limited, and not worth the effort just to make the Project tab look pretty. Since a .3mf file is just a zip archive, I open mine with a zip utility (7-Zip, Winzip, WInRAR, etc.) and add whatever files I want. Usually, I include a copy of CAD design files, maybe related web shortcuts, etc. A note alerts me to look inside the .3mf:
Welcome to the forum.
I also do something similar to @lkraus by adding photos, BOM, etc, to the .3mf.
Yet I still miss the GUI, so I was trying to find a straightforward way to edit the pointers for the added files so that I could see them in BambuStudio. Yet, I wasnât successful as many times it failed, and I didnât have the time or patience to find the cause.
Orca Slicer seems to be the best you can get currently.
You can also upload your files to MW and add the required info. That way, your project files will be shown in the project section. There is no need to share the file, as you can mark it as private. I tested this months ago, but I do believe it still works.
Just trying to keep this topic active. I can not upgrade firmware until this feature is working. The cancellation of the Engineer build plate is putting the heat on me to upgrade.
The Project feature in Studio is working exactly as Bambu wants, so I would not expect it to ever return to the pre-Makerworld days when we could edit project information locally.
I donât understand why it prevents you from updating firmware. Or why the engineering plate is involved.

The plan is to be able to render a markdown file into the description, and add any pictures that share the basename of the 3MF file as aux files. Will be on github when usable.
From someone who has been there, it isnât straightforward. There are three alternatives, and the one youâre following is the hardest.
I had success a few times, but most of them failed. The failure wasnât a big problem, yet I couldnât find the cause.
I stopped when I found myself reading about the 3MF Consortium.
Upload your model to MW (you can make it private) with the necessary files. The result is a 3mf file already configured.
Alternatively, use OrcaSlicer for the purpose. The project section is editable and works as in the early versions of the Bambu Studio.
Let me know if you have any questions about how to do it.
Edit:
Are you sure? I still have a few engineering plates in mint condition, and I believe others have it, too. I doubt that BL would block a userâs access to their product.
Add data, you knowâŚpictures, author, model name ⌠all the blank fields under the Project tab.
This information is then listed on the Bambu display for the different parts on an SD card.
The question isâŚDoes the latest version of OrcaSlicer permit adding and editing part informtion under the Project tab?
