BBL? What is the truth about the H2D?

love the x1c, but i have to say that the P1S is pretty great in itself, i have been really happy with it, and for PLA the quality difference is negligible to non-existent versus the x1c, so i’d challenge that you would need to replace it with a x1c

My friend got the P1S, but he says their prints don’t look as nice as mine on the X1C. So I am starting to think there is more to this story.

There really can’t be. They use the same motion system and extruder/hot end. The difference could be filament calibration?

Perhaps print the same object, from the same spool of filament, sliced with the same settings/calibration in the same location to compare them?

I have both X1C and P1S series printers and I don’t notice any difference in the parts I print.

Same here - at least with PLA, haven’t tried ASA-CF in the P1S though, as I still haven’t upgrade the extruded gears and nozzle

That must just show the importance of drying your filament, because they are printing the same items. The only difference is the filament, and I always dry mine before printing and/or ensure my AMS is dry.

The prints are more or less the same as far as I’ve been concerned. I just like the quality of life improvements the X1C has. For my personal use, it fits right with me and how I use them.

Part of the idea/plan, is to give the P1S to a friend that’s been thinking about getting into 3d printing. He needs that little bit of nudging along I think.

If anything, on paper, the p1s should be better. Less head weight.

Less weight means less smoothing needed for input shaper

I had a P1P a while back, and unfortunately, when we moved cross country the wonderful movers decided to take it off my hands. I was waiting until they announced the new one, but got tired of waiting, so I caved for a P1S.

I figure it this way. If the new one is something I like, I will wait for the first few months for any bugs to get worked out, and TRUE reviews to surface. If I don’t have the cash, ill after pay it…You only live once, and cannot take the money with you when you leave this earth…Might as well start buying things LOL

Found these trademarks in USPTO (both filed Dec 9. 2024 and still pending):
Trademark Status & Document Retrieval - BAMBU LAB AMS 2 PRO
Trademark Status & Document Retrieval - BAMBU LAB H2D)

Found these in EUIPO (both filed Dec. 9 2024 and currently in opposition proceedings, deadline for proceedings is May 6 2025):
EUIPO - eSearch - BAMBU LAB AMS 2 PRO
EUIPO - eSearch - BAMBU LAB H2D

Nice find. Interesting.

The US one is def not getting approval in the 1st quarter then according to the timeline of USPTO.

Not gonna post the entire page and the process, but if it has not even been examined as of yet, I would say it still has a good amount of time. Such a shame they called for a 2024 release but did not even register the trademark until Dec 09, 2024.
As far as the EU goes, If the opposition timeline does not end until MAY 6th, they may decide not to release it before hand, which tosses Q1 right out the window.
Maybe I am just wrong…but from everything I read on either site, it still seems like it has several months before a potential release date.

OR…

They just release it and figure the rest out later.

It is all just a waiting game at this point and unfortunately we are the ones in the dark. Figured they would want to release something about it to pump up the potential buyers, but the dead silence leave much to be desired.

You can still sell a product while waiting on trademark registration, it can just become an issue if your trademark is declined, as you’ll have to rebrand. I doubt there’s any worry of them being declined though.

Totally true, but opens the door for a legal issue, if for whatever reason someone does oppose to the trademark. I know they were sued last year, but it was dropped. Everyone is looking to make a quick buck these days, even in the worst of ways. You could be right and they may release without having it approved, but why even take the chance. If it did get denied, which like you said, prolly won’t…I would hate to be on the receiving end of that argument.
@ Leonilian My apologies, release was a poor choice of words…but I fixed the post.

I agree but I can also see how it could happen. They may focus on design first and name it once all the rest is done when they start focusing on manufacturing, that sorta timeline would line up with what we’re seeing. Bambu acts like a company with a relatively low number of actual employees, and I think that’s because they are.

What I think happens:

Core internal group of mechanical engineers design and prototype new printer, while a tightly integrated internal software engineer team makes sure everything works together — this takes the most time

Once the hardware is finalized, work with an (external) liaison for local factories to nail down production and determine timelines. — this is a pain and will never go as smoothly as you would hope

Once production is confirmed and designs are finalized, work with an (external) legal group to register trademarks and patents and everything else needed for international sale of a product

Being located in Shenzhen is very helpful because it allows them rapid, local access to factories, materials, and if needed, lots of external talent. But I think overall they’re pretty small and don’t have massive operations departments to do all this for them in the background

This was in 2022, 150 team members across the world with 80% belonging to R&D, that tracks. I’m sure they’re still expanding but for a company with their market share their team is pretty small

Oh I completely get they may be small, but don’t keep your customers in the dark, especially after they already opened a can of works with that PR nightmare about the update and ghosted into the wind. Small updates, teasers, any info at all other than one vague update months ago.

I guess on the 17th March we will know more…

China’s biggest 3D printing and additive manufacturing event returns to the NECC, Shanghai on 17-19th March 2025 .

And Bambu labs does not take part there. That we also know.

how do you know? INteresting!!

You can look that up at there page. There you can see all companies that you can find there. Bambu labs is not participating.

Edit:
Cant find the link again where you can see all the companies that are taking part there. It is a bit hard, because sometimes the language switches to chinese.
But last time i looked, the search funktion was not working well and i had to go manually throuth the whole list. Bambu labs was not listed.

Edit edit:
You only can see the tab for the Exhibitor List on a desktop pc, at least it is not working on my smartphone.
But again: the search funktion does not work, you have to go manualy throuth all 18 pages of company names

Edit edit edit:
426 companys are listet
