I am using the Bambul PAHT-CF in the AMS for the first time. I have been using the bypass. I have owned the printer/AMS since is was released and this is the first time the AMS is making a grinding/slipping noise when feeding the filament. I am printing with PA support, so for almost every filament change over, the PAHT-CF retracts ok, but then when it is time for it to feed again, the AMS throws an error, red light flashes, and I get a message saying to check for tangled filament, etc. To correct it, I push the filament in until the feed motor grabs it and pulls it in, and away it goes again. When it feeds, it sounds like the feed gears are grinding. Even though Bambu says the PAHT-CF is AMS compatible, is it really? I am in the middle of a long print and do not want to stop and take the feed section apart yet. Thanks,
I’ve had very little issue with PAHT-CF in the AMS once I dried it properly. I run a fair bit of CF and GF materials and find they play ok and don’t excessively wear parts as you’d imagine. That said you should start with a reasonably good condition PTFE and routing setup as it’ll find weakness. I have around 2k hours on my AMS and had renewed my PTFE a few times, probably worth installing a new set if you’re not sure.
As for supports, I haven’t found a need to use interface material in my experience they break away really nice with standard clearances.
