Hi there.
Yesterday, I received a message from a fellow contributor on MakerWorld informing me that my models are available for purchase on Vinted without my knowledge or permission. I have already reported this to Vinted support.
However, this person has hundreds of other models listed, and I am almost certain they are being used without the authors’ knowledge.
So check if your models are there as well and report it to the support team.
After reporting this I got a joke reply from support:
Thanks for taking the time to report content that concerns you. After careful consideration, we found that since the content you reported doesn’t violate our community standards, we couldn’t take action against dimensaocriativa3d. We rely on our community standards when reviewing every report - that way, every member’s behaviour is evaluated against a clear set of rules. Although we couldn’t take action against this member, you can block them so they’re no longer part of your Vinted experience. Learn more about blocking another member
At this point you have to run down the portugal copyright enforcement process against websites hosting copyright infringing materials. Here are the general steps one would need to do, but I don’t know the exact path for this. All I know is you can maybe get them delisted from major search engines, potentially lose their domain names and possibly go after the business legally. Good news is that this kind of stuff definitely works, look how threatened MW is of having the word ‘lego’ listed in their model title names, etc.
Check the people he is following too. They are selling also lots of stuff without any license, one of my models included.
It’s disgusting to see this, since these same persons are in a Telegram group where i am too and they speak as if nothing happens, thinking that people don’t know they are not the creators but simple thiefs.
Fight fire with fire, that’s what i am learning from some people.
Yeah, i like to gather some info so i get to know how people work and to follow on their next steps.
But i am a creep for doing it. He’s a good person for stealing dozens of creators. Nice!
Are from the same person. Just so that people know. I have already reported tons of ads but still waiting for Vinted to say something about it.
Also, many, if not most, of the models sold there, are using the pictures that the creators have in their profiles in Makerworld. Just that is an offense already.
In the meantime, this creator insists that 3D models are not to be restricted for selling because there is no law that says otherwise. He states that they are public and so they are free for everyone to sell. This was from a message that a friend of mine got from him and i will leave what he responded:
Seller: I don’t understand where you’re getting at or what you want, I think you’re being a bit hypocritical, do you pay royalties to brands like coca cola, Ford or Audi? I don’t think anyone in 3D has the moral high ground to talk about rights.
I’m not ashamed of myself, show me some legislation saying that what I’m doing is a criminal offence.
I’ll leave this as it is because this new wave of “creators” that bought their first "no frills ready-to-print "printer (Bambu) is getting ridiculous, to be honest.
I don’t believe it’s the same person. But i may be mistaken since no one is perfect, me included.
It’s a sh1tty situation to everyone involved.
More than 1300 models from Makerworld are being sold in 2 different accounts under the same one man ownership.
Now imagine if Makerworld decides to enforce their rules about no models under exclusivity should be somewhere else. Imagine people one day losing all their points because of just one guy… ouch…
