Coldplate ruined by petg

Hey fellow Bambus,
I tried to print a third party petg(which I had laying around) on the Coldplate (as recommended by the label) which the Gerneric Petg setting. It sticked very well, to be precise too well. I applied the coat of glue stick and printed the “sticker helper”.
Turned out great but when I stared flexing the build plate to remove it, it ripped huge pieces of the Sticker out as well.
I couldn’t help but Apply a new sticker.
But now I am Scared to print anything in petg from now on
Any Tipps what might went wrong?

In general, I would suggest to get the PEI plate and get away from that coldplate, as they call it. With the PEI plate no glue equired for PEI Bambu Dual-Sided Textured PEI Plate | Bambu Lab EU

you could try to print it on the engeneer side if the PETG is to sticky , no glue needed
or indeed the textured PEI sheet could be a great option

also if you print ABS , do not use the cool plate or it also rips the sticker
The cool sticker is really sticky on all kind of filaments so best used only for PLA xD

But it wont let me print on the engeneering side with petg - but i need to select both to get it working right ?

i will order one, but for the moment i need a solution

which type PETG are you using then ? If not the PETG from BL, you shouild increase the bed temp to 70 Degr C. Print temp arnd 250. Instead of glue stick you can use 3DLac or regular hairspray without additonal “volume” or “anti glue effect” or whatever that is called.

why would it not let you print on engeneer plate ?
just select the cool plate to slice ( or high temperature plate ) and put the engeneer side up in the printer
there is no control by the printer to see what side or what plate is used

maybe not the best solution, but it will prevent from ripping off the cool sheet
i personal also print it on the Textured PEI plate as that works great , but in meantime the engeneer side should solve the problem

The built in PETG profile is set to zero for the engineering plate bed temp (or at least it was, it might have changed on the latest slicer).

In order to print on the engineering plate, this value needs to be modified.

Despite what the sticker says, the Cool Plate is no longer recommended for PETG.

Too many people have had issues like you’ve experienced.

then the should change the labeling on the sticker itself
Because thats the most obvious part i was considering - and the slicer still lets me do this (yes it is up to date!)

i used the cold plate setting on the engeneering plate - worked out great with a cover of gluestick.
Will stick to this for now

i was using overture petg black

and @PowerChaos i’ve just selected generic petg and the engeneering plate - slicer told me that “Bed1: engeneering bed does not support filament 1”

In the next slicer version this should be fixed. For now you can edit the PETG preset and change the engineering plate temp to match the cool plate temp, which will then let you slice with that selected.

the slicer is software and does not care what PHysical plate is present
i was talking about swapping the physical plate , leave the slicer on cool plate or high temperature plate or textured plate and slice the gcode as PETG

then on the printer you just put the engeneer side , again the printer does not care
that way you just bypass the first check of the slicer , as it is just a check to make sure the correct plate get used
same story for the color selection , i select 4 colors and match the AMS with those 4 colors and in the red color i put yellow , in the green i put black , in the yellow i put white … the machines does not care about that unless you use the RFID as then it auto assign a color ( but i respool them so again a other color on the spool … )

so to save the hassle of selecting the correct plate and if it i allow it or not , you just makes sure the temps are correct for the filament and press slice/print and swap the physical plate to the plate you like

Looks interesting… Better than glustick I guess.

Have you used 3DLack if so does it peel like the gluestick does? I got one with my bundle but haven’t used it as yet, I have used the gluestick and it’s driving me crazy, all that peeling and washing of the parts and the coolplate!

It should check and make sure you have a temperature set in the filament settings for the plate you want to use. I myself use the engineering plate for pla and petg with a little aqua net hairspray and it works great.

+1 and most importantly, always let parts cool completely. Buy spare plates so you can swap easily. The textured pei sheet is a tank, the wham bam gives a glass like finish but is easily damaged and the lightyear also seems bulletproof but leaves a matte finish.
