It is possible that the laser version has 2 magnets since it is not glass. It may need both of them to hold the door closed properly. But, of course that doesn’t mean that they are not using it to detect the laser door is in place and closed.
Yeah, people have mentioned laser protective films and all, but honestly I’m just going to stick with reinstalling the green door when I want to use the laser. The last time lasers hit my eyes my vision improved to “better than perfect”, I don’t think that would happen with this one though…
oh… Maybe Bambu will start selling a LASIK module! Please keep in mind that I am making a totally assine “humorus” comment on a potentially very serious issue and I don’t take laser safety “lightly”.
I’m hoping they make a door that’s a really strong magnification lens, and then a 45 degree reflective mirror that replaces the bed. Even with both those you’ll probably still need to connect it directly to the power lines if you want to use it to disable satellites.
Is this what caused the wild fires from space? Knew it was legit.
I thought about that as well. That’s most likely what the deal is.
Based on my research I’m fairly certain that this is in fact that space laser technology that Bambu adapted to be used in these printers. Also I have it on good authority that the “D” in H2D originally stood for “Deathray” but they changed it for the marketing.
I only have one working eye, and the other is at less than 75% now.
I have Dwayne’s retraction syndrome and retinopathy.
@AeonJoey, please be careful!
I don’t have an H2D but I’m fairly certain there is an interlock on the door that will only allow the laser to operate with it is closed.
I am pretty sure it does have an interlock but people here are discussing defeating those.
I’m unpacking my H2D now. I cannot visually see anything on the new or old door that would be a factor. Also I hate this green door as much as anticipated, it’s really cheap feeling.
It’s a 30 second job to swap doors, this is much better. I’ll just swap back for laser time, it’s probably the easiest part of that process.
Substituting the stock door mounting screws for some thumb screws might make it even easier.
Damn!! BAMBU is sold out on the doors
OMG! Yes! (link didn’t work for me but I get the idea!)
who? I read every comment, no one wants that and no one said that.
noooooooooo(25chars)oooooooo
‘notify me when available’ humbug!
I spent my last remaining gift cards on the AMS HT, so I was waiting for enough to accumulate for the door, and was about to buy
My awesome mod photo caused a run on doors
WOW!!! Checkout Vector3D’s H2D teardown video;
I’m still watching but he’s already identified that YES the magnets are how it recognizes the green vs glass installed, and even on the SIDE windows! There are Hall effects sensors that can verify the magnetic strength mounted in the side panels that do this. I’m shook! This is pretty sweet, and an extra safety measure I’m glad is there
