Hi, it would be nice to be able to copy-paste between objects in different 3mf files! thank you
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, how does this not exist.
It is a massive oversight that such a basic OS level feature doesn’t exist.
Cut, copy & paste is a basic feature available in all other apps.
I’m concerned the issue is related to a limitation with the Windows version that (unless it changed since I last checked) only allows one instance rather than the unlimited instances we enjoy on the Mac. Thus, the function isn’t needed on the Windows version.
The Windows version is the only version with built-in STL repair tools. For some reason the Windows version appears to create limitations in the Mac version.
Seems to be an issue inherited from Prusa slicer.
It’s easy enough to do an “Import”. I do it all the time to populate a plate with multiple models. This is not a “Clone”. It’s different models.
When was the last time you checked? I’ve had multiple instances on Windows for at least 3 months, maybe longer.
I blew up (accidently) my last Windows machine a few months back.
I only have a few Mac computers now, that should date it.
As you noted, I qualified my response and suggested it only as a possible reason for the limitation.
Other answers have given more up-to-date reasons.
One way to transfer models is either import the other 3mf as geometry-only (but you get all objects and all plates), or you could export and then import STLs. Not as convenient as a simple copy, but at least a viable workaround.
It’s a feature request, the OP knows the other ways, simply wants the copy & paste method as it is the most convenient and universal way of achieving the goal for all other software, but, not BS.
yes i know. I simply want a less time-consuming way
