Why not cut the thread out of some old coffee table and screw the mug in there…
Here, have a coffee - IF you can lift the cup ROFL

“Embrace” or “brace”?

"And articulated legs."

Guess who was right. And the contest hasn’t even started yet

I was generally wondering is there is any “limitations” regarding publishing ones model under the standard license and/or exclusive program ~ technically one would run such a contest to get ideas / improve your product and possibly integrate it. As per MW contest rules, you’re still the original owner and as a winner just need to keep it on MW. Usually such type of contests, outside of MW, reserve some right to use your design and have co-up etc (whole point of contests).

I regret to inform you it has happened… maybe more than once but I just found this…

Just thought I’d share my NOT articulated legs entries😉

Hoping to stay ahead of all the legs in likes and downloads!

While you were discussing the contest, I have already uploaded my entry: “Please Don’t Put It Randomly" Cup, hope it can bring reflection to the fast-paced life. Have fun!

Yeahh that didn’t take long at all. When scrolling there is no avoiding ‘corcelain buddies’ :see_no_evil:

5 of the last 9 not even Corcelain related…

…and also quickly shamelessly promoting my own entry (hope you guys don’t mind)…

*6 of 9

They take advantage of the fact that even if they are reported, those entries probably won’t be removed during the weekend.

hopefully they get taken down soon :expressionless: I just wish MW did some actual reviewing but I know this has been mentioned time and time again.

Yes - it’s kind of tricky to make additions to something that is hard to come buy. One could of course print the corcelain part, the models are there, but that would be kind of being missing the point, wouldn’t it?

Not at all, especially if the models are 1:1. This is mutual cooperation. People will be more willing to buy Corcelain because they can use 3D printing to personalize it. And people who simply bought nice Corcelain dishes in the longer term may be interested in 3D printing if they see what they can do with it.

I see your point, and I can only speak for myself, but if I design something I also want to try it out right away, and not having to order it from Japan from a single supplier through a complicated supply chain.

That’s why I believe that the contest would have been better organized if every contestant could order the corcelain directly from MakerWorld.

This would certainly have the desired effect on people getting interested (I got interested, until I saw how hard it is to physically get one of these).

I would also like to buy Corcelain from Makerworld and I hope maybe one day they will add it to Maker’s Supply.

I would love to buy some too , but impossible in EU . Please add them in bambu Shop

Must a long weekend then…

…but how does that do anything for them if they get 100 points deducted for uploading unrelated models to the contest. (At least that’s what I read in the rules) …and what’s with models moving up in time when sorted by “Latest”? Do people just take them out of the contest and then put them back in afterwards?

Sorry, first time I’m actually following a contest closely… maybe that’s just what always happens and I sound naïve. Unfortunately, I ended up in the Featured Collection for Physics Education after that contest. Didn’t win anything because I was not in the top 15 but I figured, maybe I could actually place somewhere in the next contest if I put more than an afternoon’s worth of effort into it. So far it’s really depressing though to pay attention to what’s going on…

Depends on what you consider “the point”…

okay, fair enough… but if you print the provided models on your printer, you kinda can. Granted it’s not porcelain and might not be your cup of tea (pun intended) but as far as putting some plants in… I mean it’s a model, right. Then if you’re happy with it and you want to keep the thing for yourself, you should of course get the real deal and not the 3D printed version of the Corcelain piece, so…

…I do agree that via MakerWorld would make it much more accessible, but as far as designing for the contest? I’m sure we got people on here that just printed a small Skadis board on their (worst case) 180x180 A1 Mini and design adapters for the system without owning an actual IKEA board.

What I’m trying to say, it’d be nice if down the road these pieces could be ordered through MakerWorld, but that really shouldn’t keep you from joining the contest. My two cents anyways…
