Thanks - yes Ventura was my first one - and it involved quite a lot of bolts of different sizes.
I think the springyT’s are better - but I think I will probably go for more separate decks than the Arcadia one - as it is easier to resolve issues that way without massive reprints.
The missing 2 is probably just that I tend to have 12 or 16 filaments defined in my projects and don’t necessarily use every one in every model.
I suppose I should probably remove the missing ones as it will make it easier when sorting out which colours are needed.
I think it would be nice to get a good balance between the designs like in the Ventura vs the One in the Arcadia. I assume the biggest limitation is the overhangs on the decks? or at least that is what I am seeing the most in my MSQE build.
Might be nice to have them sectioned out in 3 or 4 decks at a time since the superstructure stays consistent. That way you still get the enjoyment of putting it together, but it also not taking as long to print. Or even being able to consolidate sections to use a few less colors.
The springy Ts are the way to go. It makes lining up decks a lot easier because you can align them along the way instead of waiting until the end (like on your QM model). Although I might suggest having a way for them to bottom out and bolt in to the bottom of the ship.
Bit of a risk I suppose leaving the upgraded H2C to print overnight on the very first print - but amazingly it was still going when I woke up this morning. About 14hrs in as so far flawless (apart from some surface imperfections which are probably my model).
Ship sides aren’t that flat anyway so not a big issue for me.
Watching those Vortek tool changes is fantastic - I might edit the video to slow some of them down!
This short clip also has one of the faster L<>R nozzle changes too.
Just kicked off the Aurora reprint after some design changes follow seeing the actual ship. Back in June 24 on an X1C Cruise Ship Print - #157 by Ukdavewood
It took around 13.5hrs.
Initial expectation on the H2C with default filament placement on 1+3 AMS was 7.5hrs
Update - not sure if its because I inserted the high flow nozzle after slicing - but just had to restart the print because I noticed an error in the design.
This time it asked me when I went to custom mode to select which filaments to go high and which not - and it shaved about 5 mins off of the print time.
Print finished ok with one AMS issue - and about 3 AI pauses that I just continued with.
Quality not perfect though - will have to choose different brown shades - plus a few colours quite stringy - will try re-setting up the project from scratch first and if that fails might have to try drying some of the filament.
Also the top rear deck quality not perfect - so might have to beef up that section in the model.
I think I am going to order a few more Vortek 0.2 nozzles - as printing a half size version of the 1:1000 / 0.4mm version at 1:2000 / 0.2mm nozzle doesn’t look too bad in terms of print time - about 2 extra hours - not sure why - I guess the purging takes longer on a 0.2.
Would really like to print it a mix nozzle size though if it is ever implemented.
Almost perfect - and no stops - just some minor faults at the front because I accidentally left in some 1:500 detailed parts, plus need to work out why the extra strings are being left on the funnel stacks - looks like real smoke!
Still a bit of stringing from the blue and yellow.
I am aiming to do a 1:2000 version of Aurora - trying to work out how many 0.2mm nozzles to purchases.
The obvious answer is 6 - but that is quite expensive - so have done some rough calculations of print times - by trying some different nozzle numbers in BambuStudio.
And for this particular 11 colour print it looks like the sweet spot is 4 Induction Nozzles + 1 Left Nozzle - so I think I am going to purchase enough for 4 Induction nozzles only - and the benefits of nozzle 5 and 6 are pretty marginal.
Pretty much done now - eventually printed the model in 3 parts (plus 2 covers) - with 2 x M2 screws (which will be scaled up to M4 in the 1:500 version).
Will probably release it on Makerworld as a 4 part print, and maybe add a profile for a single part print later.
2 x extra 0.2mm nozzles ordered - but for some reason they are stuck in ‘processing’ on the Bambulab shop for the last 2 days.
Had a few stops due to AI detecting extrusion issues - couldn’t see a cause - but moved around the affected filament a bit in the AMS and it seemed to eventually continue ok.
