Cruise Ship Print

That looks like an interesting ship to model - will have to do one of those one day. That’s the great thing about ship modelling - there are so many 100s of different ships to do.

Nice surprise to wake up to this morning.

Printed perfectly in about 9 hours without a single intervention.

its tiny when compared to the 1:1000 and 1:500 scale versions.

Quite pleased with the H2C and 0.2mm nozzles - might print the rest of the fleet at this scale too.

nicely done :+1:

Looking forward to see soon a larger size, with a cross section, model.

Going for 1:4000 next - looks like it might work - the text still looks legible.

Print kicked off.

1:4000, 1:2000 (the one I just printed) and 1:1000 comparison in preview

1:4000 not bad (without close up or magnifying glasses) - but probably a push too far.
Will try 1:3000 next

1:3000 also can out quite well - but text a little bit corrupted - so 1:2000 probably best size

1:3000 is the 2nd one from the bottom.

  • but I have kicked off a 1:2500 scale print as final test.

Comparing slicer settings
.08 layer height Arachne

0.1 Classic

Conclusion - should probably use 0.08/Arachne for the 1:2000 version too - due to text, plus loss of detail on the top of the sliding roof that you get with 0.1/Classic - so yet another reprint I think after the 1:2500 one finishes.

So when is the 1:1 going to be?

That would mean relocating all his neighbors on a 400 m radius…

I have toyed with the idea of doing a 1:125 or 1:100 QM2 - but I am liking these tiny ships - will probably print out the whole fleet again at whatever scale I end up settling on - the 1:2500 almost finished

I like the small ones, although I also have a hatred for 0.2mm nozzles. I think the 1:1000 is a perfect size (maybe something a little bigger for the H series machines)

Though if you do a 1:125 version, I will be the first one to print it. The experience of putting it together is half the fun.

Last one - I think the 1:2500 is pretty good - but I think the original 1:2000 is better - will stop now.

Timelapses of all of the Aurora prints.

Mini Arvia (1:2000 / 0.2mm / 0.08 layer / Arachne) now underway - it’s about 22hrs - either as one or split.

I’ve got a 1:250 version of this one to compare with too - plus I’m cruising on it for the first time next month.

So kicked off split print

First attempt at Arvia 1:2000 print failed - due to some supports being missing.

Even at this stage it is interesting for comparing the sizes of P&O’s smallest and largest ships (at the same scale).

That’s too bad. However, if you see you don’t succeed…try, try again.
Eventually, it will work out.

Arvia 1:2000 Coming along - only 2 more decks to go.

Looking pretty good, and bit fiddly to put together with 1mm screws, and pretty fragile - later springyT method much easier- plus would probably have been better to print several decks together, or the whole ship on one.

1:2000 Ariva and Aurora (on top of a rival printer).

1:250, 1:500, 1:1000 and 1:2000 Arvia

Arvia 1:2000 - multi part

Love the Captain Hudsons

Thanks - got a  from Emma Cruises on her Captain Hudson FB Group..

Two Arvia’s packaged up for their visit to the real ship next week.

Made a start today on a reduced detail version of my QM2 model - so that it can be printed at 1:1000 on 0.4mm nozzles in one single print (or a few parts), or more interesting to me at the moment at 1:2000 on 0.2mm nozzles.
