Dangerous prints

Dont come across many actually dangerous prints but these are just idiotic. This would allow unrated & unfused equipment not designed for the grid to be plugged in.

I have reported but if @makerworld would be a bit quicker about it that would be nice.

Oh FFS… The proper adapter is like 1€ and fancy one is 5€. Why risk with something like this?!?

Thanks for reporting that, this falls under “dangerous prints” for sure!

I “love” this bit in the description: “however three-prong plugs might require a little force to insert them.”

Plugs and sockets have different configurations for a reason - so incompatible circuits aren’t connected together. That innovation came on the bodies of lots of electrocuted people.

Not quite the same thing but we had some equipment racks that an untrained worker took the initiative to plug into the power umbilicals under the floor. Hard to plug together but he got them to mate.

A bit later an electrical worker was running some flexible metal conduit and was configuring it above the floor to then snake it under the floor where it needed to go. It inadvertently touched one of the racks the other guy had plugged in and spray of sparks and tripped breakers ensued.

The first guy by forcing the plugs together had connected the rack frame ground to a mains leg and the racks were all hot and breakered at around 50A. A person could be on fire and the breaker probably wouldn’t trip. The only thing that kept others from getting shocked and possibly killed was the short time between events.

If plugs don’t want to fit together you never force them. There’s probably a reason and whoever is trying to plug things together should take it as a warning to stop and investigate to make sure they are supposed to be compatible and are compatible.

Reminds me of this.

Holy cow that’s dumb…

But saw the thread title and thought it was going to be about the other type of model some people deem dangerous to be posted here.

That’s just amazing. I’m forwarding that to the electrical safety guys.

I know it’s a joke. And I think it would be more likely to work “well” with EU voltages. But that is the epitome of cringe for those who work with electricity.

The classification as dumb is when you’re trying very hard to be “politically correct”.

I’m not at all concerned by politically correctness, and this

is what I’d call: ****** (due to censorship) :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

In the U.K. we have one of the best thought out designs for electrical safety plugs given our use of 250v and ring mains.

To remind us how great they are they also disable anyone who accidentally stands on one worse than a LEGO brick.

This stupidity needs to stop. The safety built in shouldn’t be circumvented by a moron.

I assume their kids use forks in the sockets.

I was a child model (very cute 6-8 years old), how dangerous am I?

I assume I am the other model to whom you speak.

Nah. Apparently they’re “highly evolved” beings and are very much into the above illustrated "device "

Sears catalog or UK equivalent I assume?

Runway.

I thought it was a one-time-tester

It is. And it depends whose “time’s up” is tested.
After that, another (living) one may test whose time’s up again. Only one test is guaranteed to work: the first.

I thought it was a do-it-yourself defibrillator

Holy… s… 0_0

How to remove the best safety feature of a UK plug socket in one easy step! Make your socket live permanently for the kids to stick bits of metal into it all year round! Don’t worry the prong isn’t even insulated to make electrocution even easier!

Did you have a signature look like “Blue Steel”?

In Australia most electrical mains work and some plumbing is restricted to licensed tradespeople, but I’m betting MW would shrug their shoulders just like firearm parts etc. Guidelines are vague and unless you can write a support ticket out in strong enough legalese, it’s a pointless effort reporting.

Does trying not to trip up count?

Unpopular opinion, but it would weed out those from the shallow end of the gene pool. That can’t be all bad.
