Exercise Caution When Cleaning The H2C right İnduction Hotend

If you opt for H2C, be prepared for the induction heating element to constantly clog. You need to be especially careful during cleaning. This particular heating element got stuck while I was trying to cold draw the filament with the thinnest Allen wrench; I tried everything and couldn’t get it out, and unfortunately, I realized the heating element itself was rotating around its own axis. After all my efforts, I managed to get it out, but as you can see, it’s broken. If you want to open the Hoten using the cold pull method with an Allen key, try to remove it by pulling the Allen key directly. Otherwise, if you try to remove it by turning the Allen key left and right, the Hoten will rotate inside the cooler, which can cause the heating wires to break. I got burned, don’t let it happen to you. Look at the GIF.

That’s great, my friend. I hope you continue to use it without any problems. Since I bought my H2C, it’s been almost a month, and in a 124-hour printing period, it’s clogged 5-6 times and keeps clogging.

Did you try different hotends mate? Or is it the same one that’s clogging? Seems to me that there’s something else at play here.

All the 0.4mm heating elements I’ve used so far have become clogged. But the nozzle on the left works perfectly. I don’t know why. I contacted technical support and they responded regarding whether I followed the standard instructions. My problem persists.

I am always afraid it would happen to me but (knock on wood) it hasn’t happenned yet.

A question for you though, are you using the H2C type 4-1 splitter? With cleaning pad installed?

I removed mine to get the filament go through smoother but could allow contaminants to flow through which could lead to blockage so was wondering what your configuration was.

I never used a 4-in-1 separator because I read that it causes problems. An AMS is connected to the left nozzle, and the PTFE length between the device and it is 600mm. An AMS 2 Pro is also connected to the right nozzles, and it’s also connected with a 600mm PTFE. Both have a straight line, meaning there are no bends in the PTFE.

What you’re doing to your hotend is utter barbarity. Don’t scare others. You should be more careful and attentive to your equipment.

I have two H2C printers with about 400 hours each. I have had zero clogged induction nozzles. I hope BBL can help you find the issue! What brands/types of filament are you using?

ı am using Bambu Lab and Polymaker. I am not using other filament.

My intention isn’t to scare anyone; I just don’t want others to go through what I did. I’m sharing my problem so that at least H2C owners will be more careful when cleaning their nozzles. Believe me, I took great care to clean it without damaging it, and it took a full hour, but unfortunately, this is what happened to the hotend.

ahh you are right!! I fixed it.

You didn’t state the type of filament you were using. I suspect it was PLA. I stopped using it about 12 years ago after I had clogging problems and found out that it melts in a car parked in the sun. I print mostly PETG and ABS and haven’t had a nozzle clog in about 12 years.

This blockage occurred while using ABS.

Did you use that nozzle to print PLA before you had the ABS jam?

There are many possible reasons extrusion might not be working that aren’t “nozzle clog”.

What are the symptoms you’re seeing ? Is the machine reporting any errors or does it just stop extruding?

What filaments have you used (a list, not just who you bought it from)? Does the printer do it with all the filaments or just a particular specific ones? Are you using default temperatures or setting your own?

I’ve been running my H2C for about 2 months now. Maybe 500 hours of printing. Most of it swapping nozzles. ABS, ASA, PETG and PLA have all worked just fine. Not a single clog (in fact, not a single bad print).

Not sure of it’s exact composition, but the induction heating element is just a “ferromagnetic” sleeve (Iron, Steel, Nickel, Cobalt and alloys thereof). There’s an electromagnet on the printhead that generates a high frequency fluctuating magnetic field that induces “eddy currents” in the sleeve, and those eddy currents are what generate the heat. Same way the induction stove in my kitchen makes an iron-bottomed pot heat up (must faster than any other type of stove).

There’s nothing about the nozzle design or the heater that’d make it more prone to clogging compared to some other nozzle design.

And they’re clearly not designed for disassembly (because they shouldn’t need it) which is why you destroyed yours in the attempt.

If I had to guess, there’s an issue with the extruder and not with the filament clogging the nozzle. Which is why you’ve experienced it multiple times with multiple filaments. Your attempts to disassemble the nozzle probably wouldn’t have yielded a “fix” even if you hadn’t busted it up.

I’ve been printing a lot of CF and GFs on the 0.4mms. Nothing happened. >2000hrs now.

Yes I used. However, when I used ABS after PLA, the clogging didn’t occur. After making a few prints with ABS, the hotend became clogged.
