We’ve all had a print fail. Sometimes when it fails or we see an issue we have to fully stop the print in order to troubleshoot. What would be a nice feature is for the printer and Bambu studio to tell us and log at exactly what layer the printer was stopped or failed at. And then in the slicer, as well as the printer, and Bambu studio have a feature called “start where I left off” or probably something better. But it would be a toggle button that would contextually pop up if it realizes that you’re trying to re-print something that you just manually stopped. The pop up could give you the option to begin exactly where you left off or choose an exact layer height to resume from.
Another reason that some may consider this is for the situation when you’re away from home and the print fails. That heatbed and everything inside will be sucking away power until you get back and resume or fix the issue (some filaments like abs, would need to stay at a warm temperature to stay adhered to the plate so you can’t exactly stop those prints, but pla and petg should be fine to stop and then resume at a later time).
In addition to what JonRaymond has already said: If the material cools down for too long, or the entire 3D object, it will shrink. Only a tiny little, but enough, especially with large prints, that the next failure is inevitable.
Yes, there are ways to recover a print, such as using G-code and reattaching it to the print plate with magnets. However, leaving a print turned off for a long time and starting again is not one of them, not even for pla.
Only truly outstanding experts can do this with G-code. However, the barrier is intentionally high for everyone else because the risk of damaging the printer is extremely high. - and to be clear: I can’t do that, even though I can write g-code.
Pause option works, skip object also works well, but to get the best out of both these features you need to be around, or at least monitoring a print ,
