Hi,
I’ve had my X1 Carbon and AMS for about a week. First half a dozen prints have worked flawlessly.
However, during a longer print it stopped feeding filament from the first bay.
It gave error 163917 - Failed to feed the filament into the toolhead. Please check whether the filament or spool is stuck. After trouble shooting, click the retry button.
So from what I can see the vertical cog spins and makes a lot of noise, however, the right most cog remains up - and does not appear to be in the same position as the other bays - which seem to load and unload filament just fine.
I’ve tried restoring factory defaults, I’ve swapped filament, and the spools all work fine in the other three bays.
After spinning for a while there is a red light that flashes on the front of the feeder.
Any ideas.
It’s a bit hard to see but looks like the vertical gear teeth are damaged? Please check as I can’t see too well on that photo
I’ve checked and they don’t appear to be damaged.
I also checked to see if there was a broken piece of filament in the tubing and confirmed that there was none present.
I’ve had this issue a couple times with the red light (note always with non-Bambu filament), and it’s been a case where the filament broke in the AMS. You have to take apart the AMS and check the PTFE tube on the underside for broken filament. It sounds daunting but its actually not that difficult. There’s a YouTube video on fixing broken filament in the AMS (search for “How to Clear Broken Filament from the Bambu Lab AMS”).

Thanks for your response. I’ve already checked for broken filament by dismantling per your suggestion, but unfortunately there wasn’t any.
Any chance you could post a video of the issue with sound?
If you’re comfortable with disassembling delicate parts, you could try to remove the upper cover of the feeder, and adjust the position of the gear set so it matches the working feeders. There is a wiki guide for the disassembly process.
