Filament recycler incoming

Honestly, I wouldn’t think Bambu would spend time, effort and money on a filament recycler (because it would hurt their filament selling revenues)… and even if they did come up with one, considering their chosen business model and their completely fvcked-up customer support, I wouldn’t suggest to anyone spending money on it. It might look great, it might perform well (at least for a while), but when the brown smelly thing will hit the ceiling fan, one will have to deal with their customer support…(where the notion of "customer support " is equivalent to a very bad joke)…a “support” for which one paid plenty of hard earned money… So, no, I wouldn’t think it’s worth both my time or my money…

Holy carp! A $1000 off “early bird price” might tempt some but to me it sounds like taking lumps to get a bunch out the door.

I’d be stuck at $2500 but that’s the outright cost for about 100 full spools of retail filament without any discounts. It would be a lot of printing before that expense could ever turn into a savings. Also, it would mean stockpiling prints before extruding and the stuff I do is too varied and some multicolor embedded.

I like the idea and hope it works well for those who fit the use model, but that ain’t me.

To me is still worrisome the fact that there isn’t any contact details on their website, no physical address, no T&Cs, no info as with whom you’re dealing with.

I am just going to wait out the price until it is affordable.

Yeah, ChatGPT said it may be a scam because of that but who would put so much effort into it unless they want to waste their life.

That was the only counterargument I could think of, but Bambu doesn’t have the best filament either.

It´s simple actually, if you think about it.
You make a working product that you know you won´t be able to produce due to the costs. But you still keep working on it because, it works for you. You hype people, people pay upfront for “support”. You keep working on your own internal product that is working and can be better with a little more money put into it.
You do research, you get your own product that can be used for your own needs. And yet, people who have supported you, did it without any warranty that the product will actually be comercialized, as said in the ToS of the “kickstarter” campaign.
In the end, the product is done and will not be mass produced and instead will be used internally. You keep the money, you keep the product. A bigger company will try to reach out to you and propose you a deal. You sell all the plans, get wealthy in the process and continue living your life.
Another company will profit from the already finished and researched product.

Profit!

P.S.: I am not saying it’s a scam… but it could be, and probably will be. Excuses will come, people will forget eventually, as always. If it’s not a scam, then be prepared for a highly costly product that will be marketed to print farms, where profits are great and so are the pockets.

Imagine Loop with the Swapmod (Multi plate automation for A1 mini) we could build a literal business off of random 3d party inventions!

Wait, so you would like a filament recycler?

I did one diy a few years ago. Died a few months later together with my hype. In the end it was not worth it and i prefer to pay a few euros more and have already made filament, in the color i chose and with good quality.

Hi guys,
I currently have to assume that the Loop team has simply copied my machine. I am David from ARTME 3D and have developed the Original Desktop Filament Extruder MK1-MK3. The Loop team simply put it into their housing and pass it off as their own development. I have published my assumptions on my website, but I am not allowed to publish them here. I have contacted the Loop team about my allegations and asked for a statement. As soon as I receive a reply, I will update this on my website. It would be a shame if the guys used my development to make the scam look perfect.

Who’s not allowing you to post here your assumptions and supporting evidence? Bambu?

It is Here on the blog on his website. His 3-d recycler actually looks like it will work and I think it is on version 3. The 3-d parts required for the machine are located on printables for the earlier versions.

discourse. trustlevel = new means that he cannot link anything and has very limited posting ability. https://www.artme-3d.de/copies-and-clones/ is the link.

I actually plan on buying artme3d kit once I reach enough PLA waste

That would be at least 1 or 2 tons, I guess… right?!?

You have developed a cool machine, not sure I’m ready to invest in it at this point, as I’d also need to figure out how to crush all my prototype prints, and not really sure if the output will be with enough quality and consistency to be a solution that works for me, but I’ll keep it in mind, and if you are ever looking for a tester reach out via PM

Yes, that’s because of my trust level. I’ve only just registered here.

not necessarily. If you have printed good filament and paid 20 dollars per roll, there are only 35 kilograms of 3D printing waste that you have to recycle to amortize the purchase of the machine
