Finding AMS in Weird State After a Print

Hi guys,

I have found my AMS in a weird state a number of times now, first on slot 2, but now in slot 3.

I’ll go to start a print and notice that a slot shows no filament, where I clearly have filament.

  • I go to investigate and find the filament between the spool and feeder clearly pulled super tight.

  • If I try to rotate the spool at all, it is clear that the rollers are locked up.

  • If I try to move the filament in the feeder, it springs into action trying to tug on the filament.

  • If I release the feeder and pull the filament out of it, it is parked on a totally stripped out section of filament (the reason it shows no filament present), and has about 205mm of good filament beyond the feeder.

  • If I break off the damaged section and feed it back in, it successfully scans and loads filament data.

Since this doesn’t happen during a print, I have to assume it is an issue when pulling back the filament to unload after a print.

Any ideas?

Is this what is happening? Section 2.2.

I may have had this happen once or twice, but in my case it was due to the filament being too loose in the spool, and when the filament is pulled by the AMS it would get stuck between the spool and the filament roll itself.

That doesn’t seem to be it, because it easily reads RFID on power up or filament loading.

This is happening for me with spools that are full and ones that are running low.
