First Layer Troubles - What else can I try?

HI all Ne to 3D printing and i have a brand new A1. I have only used less then a full roll of filament. I have bulging issues and these wavy lines that dont match the printer path all on the first layer.
Settings:
bambu slicer
0.2mm nozzle
both smooth and textured plates, i switched to smooth to see if it would help.
brand new Bambu matte filament (both black and green)
bed temp 65
nozzle temp 220
i have the auto calibrate selected for every print

What i have tried so far to fix:
factory reset
bed tamming
tightening the 3 screws on the hot end
washing plates with soap/water
washing plate is iso alcohol
manual flow rate test ( which actually made it worse? last 2 pictures of the full size layer test stopped after the corner)
changing layer height in increments from 0.1 up to 0.2
changing the layer pattern
reducing speed

online many people say that I need to adjust the Z offset but i cant find any option for that either on the printer or the slicer. I’ve had this thing for like 3 weeks and i have no idea what to do to fix it…

For the pics you’ve posted, I don’t see why your using a 0.2 nozzle.
Change it to the 0.4 nozzle…like you posted above, your new, this is a mistake.

Im using the 0.2 nozzle cause i want better quality for the smaller models…

I’m having the same issue. First layer is a mess. rest seem to be fine.

Are you able to explain more? all the things i posted are either stuff that has fine detail ( the skinny long parts) or just first layer tests. i am hoping to be able to print minis so that is why i am trying to get the 0.2 nozzle first layer correct.

When you swapped to the 0.2 nozzle, did you make the necessary changes in Bambu Studio to adjust for the new nozzle?

Under Prepare > Printer, change the nozzle to Bambu Lab A1 0.2 nozzle

Under Devices > Printer parts, change it to stainless steel 0.2

Basically I’m saying print your layers tests with the 0.4.
Print some models with the 0.4, sometimes you don’t need a 0.2.
From the little you have posted, it seems like you got an A1 & just started printing with the 0.2 nozzle.
I’m saying print with the 0.4, get to know the printer…what it can & can’t do.
Starting off with a 0.2 is just jumping into the deep end…JMO.

I was having problems with Printeriors recycled PLA like that. I have the hardened steel nozzle on. I turned up tips after reading that here, to 70C and 240C for first layer, and have an excellent benchy printing. Will try printing a drawer next, see if that is good too, now.

I lied. Printed some cable olders, and they printed great with these settings, on PEI Texture plate, no adhesive, after just soap and water washing.

And PS - I don’t know why it bolded/larged everything in original, or how to unbold it.

Did you tighten the 4 screws BACK on the hot end and not only the 3 in front ?

Yes i switched to the 0.2mm nozzle settings

yes, found that out after and tried again

so if i switch back to the 0.4mm and get my first layer good, will it naturally make the 0.2mm better? i would have assumed its something in my settings, i save all my settings whenever i change something in case it works.
OR
are you saying to just use the 0.4mm nozzle for a while and self the smaller one for a while? print a bunch or random stuff with 4.0mm

is there a certain threshold i should be looking at when switching to a smaller nozzle? my assumption was just that if i wanted better details to switch to the smaller one.
also thank you

I’m having the same issue. I opened a ticket and they told me the 0.2 print head is bad and they are sending a new one. Maybe you have the same issue. 0.4 prints fine.

Printing the first layer tests you are printing really don’t work on the Bambu printers, as they’re are no knobs to adjust.
What you what to print is the while bed.
This is for the Mini, but I’m sure you can find one for the A1 or just use the Mini Profile & adjust it to your needs.

Have you looked at the settings for the 0.4 nozzle…??
.20 is for normal printing, you want a little finer, use .16…than .12 or .08

These are the setting you use with a .04 nozzle. Until you get familiar with these, you will just be banging your head against the wall starting off with a 0.2 nozzle…JMO.

Max layer with 0.2 nozzle has to be 1.2… but I recomment 1.0.
First 1.2… others 1.0.

As this has nothing to do with this, Why can’t I post a help topic in this forum? I don’t see any new post button.

The Read Me explains it.

Thanks for the response. I did actually read that when I joined, However I have done what they are asking or at least I think I have. Still didn’t see anything way to actually post my question.

got my new heater in and printed a test on 0.4mm and its really good. I can still feel the ridges of each of the paths of the head but good for now.

so thank you for your input, i appreciate it!

ill try some bigger models for now, but if i have questions do you mind me messaging you more?

That print is fine as long as there are no big tears or rips in it.
Print a few models, since your new…use the profiles provided until you feel safe about changing settings. Since you have an A1, you can print any model posted…just remember to always check what printer/plate the profile was used & change it to A1 before you slice the file.

hhh
