This is likely a super dumb question but when I do a Flow calibration does that mean I never use what the AMS Sync produces for the loaded filaments and need to load that instead for the filament?
As far as I know flow calibration is a procedure to optimize certain parameters like flow rate or temperature for the selected filament for the print in the current condition of temperature and humidity. While AMS sync just update the current set of filaments in Bambu Studio with the filaments loaded in the AMS using their rfid.

What I’m asking isn’t clear. To make sure I get it, I need to manually load the saved filament flow calibration rather than letting the AMS Sync bambu filament stock settings. Right?

If I correctly remember synchronising filaments doesn’t load any flow calibration. It only loads type of filament informations from the RFID to mach the current AMS situation in Bambu Lab.
To calibrate the flow for the filament you have to check the corresponding checkbox before you start your print.
And, this is my deduction, you only have one flow calibration per print (somebody more experienced correct me if I’m wrong).
Forgetting about RFID for a minute (because I use all Hatchbox Filament). If you’re using all Custom Filament Profiles, I’ve found that if I run Flow Rate & Flow Dynamics Calibrations in Bambu Studio I can select the “Flow Rate Calibrated Profile” in the Prepare Tab but not in the AMS Section of the Device Tab or directly from the Printer. If I select the Main filament profile that the Flow Rate was calibrated for on the printer (because that’s the only option you have) and select the PA Profile to load the K Factor for the Flow Dynamics Calibration and then sync the filament from AMS in Studio on the prepare tab it reverts the filament in the Prepare tab back to the main profile for the filament (not the flow rate calibrated profile). So how are you supposed to easily manage all of this?
Further, after you Flow Rate Calibrate a Profile you can’t delete the original Filament profile so now I have an inflated number of filament profiles with the original that will never get used because it’s an calibrated profile. Compound this problem across multiple nozzle sizes, and colors as well (because they each have their own profile) and you’re talking about a massive list that doesn’t sync.
Lastly, choosing a filament profile on the printer that you created in Studio and assigned a color to doesn’t update the AMS. So after doing all the work to set the colors in Studio I still have to use the color picker on the AMS itself for it to show the correct colors for each loaded filament. Why doesn’t this sync seem to actually SYNC Data??
I use the Sync button quite often in Bambu Studio, and then I always have to switch from the first, uncalibrated profile to my second, calibrated profile in Slicer.
Since I don’t know of any way to assign the correct profile, I always transfer the values from the calibrated second profile to the first. And then I delete the second one again. That way, I only have one profile that fits.
Or is there some obvious trick here that I’m simply not seeing?
