Getting started with 3-D printing

Hi everyone, so I just purchased a bamboo labs P1 S printer a few weeks ago and I’m learning how to print stuff on it. I am also completely blind and learning how to 3-D print for the very first time lol so if there are any other blind users of bamboo labs, 3-D printers, I would love to hear from you, I would also love to hear any tips anyone has for me unfortunately, the Bambu Handy and the bamboo studio programs are not super accessible for me as a blind person but I’m also hoping that this can be improved with future updates. Hope to hear from everyone soon and looking forward to get to know everyone.

Greetings and welcome to the community forum! You’re right that the Handy App and Bambu Studio isn’t currently very accessible but I too hope that this will change. Thank you for being open and sharing about yourself. It’s posts like yours that help to start to make change. 3d printing can be a bit of a steep learning curve at first but there are lots of super helpful people here with years of experince. Feel free to reach out at any point if you have questions or problems.

Hi John, thank you so much for your message. I like to think that I’m pretty tech savvy for the most part but you’re right 3-D printing does seem to be kind of a steep learning curve from what I’ve learned so far and as of now all I’ve really been able to do with the Bambu Handy app is fine stuff in the maker world And then be able to print it I’ve not been able to adjust any options with the app or anything like that as far as like printing options go and things at least not really the biggest thing that I was trying to figure out but again due to the inaccessibility of the app itself Seems to be impossible for me as a blind person is how to get two or more different objects to print on the same plate instead of having to print one thing at a time
And then, as far as bamboo studio goes, I’ve herd that it’s better than any of the other slicers out there but again as far as Accessibility goes, I can’t do anything with it. I can’t even get past the first step of setting it up so I’m going to have to experiment with alternative slicers I think for now, and hope that they don’t mess up my prints

The Handy app doesn’t actually slice the model. It only offers a couple of options to change how the model is sliced in the cloud. I don’t think it is possible to print 2 or more different parts together on a plate using the app. The parts would have to be combined on a plate using Bambu Studio. What type of prints are you interested in printing? Something for a specific hobby?

So so far the biggest things that I have printed our mason jars, and I was wondering for this particular reason, as I was wondering if there was a way to make it so that the lid in the jar could print on the same plate at the same time but I also will be using it for my hobby as well so I built with Legos and one of the things that I am building. It’s a tow truck that will be able to move forward and backwards and left them right with a remote, but I am having trouble figuring out the steering system so I’m hoping that I could find something that I could print out that would look similar to a steering system so that I could feel it and check it out and then try to duplicate it with the Legos that I have

Hello! Blind user here too, although not completely. I describe myself as having just enough vision to be dangerous!

I’ve just acquired the A1 with AMS but have been printing for nearly a decade with varying levels of success. So far, the success of the A1 far out strips any of my previous printers that required much more tinkering.

Let’s hope for some accessibility improvements in the near future. With Bambu’s focus on user experience, I hope they’ll make some standard-setting changes.
