Gift card no longer transferable? what?

Today I found my gift card no longer redeemable by a different account. is that expected going forward? Or some some GC has issue? Thanks.

Good?

Is it really a shocker that the rewards system that has been rampantly abused and exploited since the beginning is finally plugging the largest leak in the system right before the major launch of a new device? :exploding_head:

Then again maybe it is just a temporary glitch?

Similar happened quite a while ago with Meta, mainly for their VR products and related gift cards.
Just buying a gift card for someone and giving the number was deemed too insecure and would also allow for fraud.
For a very short while you could just buy a gift card and at the checkout define it as an actual gift supposed to go into a different account.
Before I gave up on Meta the last state was that a transfer had to be authorised first.
Did not really help with people abusing gift cards but made sure legit users struggle - to the point of normal people having to create a Meta account first if they want to actually gift someone a gift card.
So nice for 82 year old granny who just wanted to do some good on the grandkid LOL

I do hope Bambu is starting to clean up the mess they created.
If that means some users struggle with their gift cards for a (SHORT) while than that’s fine with me.
But if this not a glitch but a new way of causing us pain and misery…

like i said in another post… you cannot transfer gift cards anymore in the same country as you are in. if i want to buy gift cards and transfer them to usa account as i am in canada it will work, as it clearly is not for you and not in you country. this is the only way i found, other then that you can also buy the stuff from your account and send it to your friends and family

Good.
Make it harder for the point farming scam accounts.

Is this retroactive or for new gift cards only?

I’ve made the offer to a few friends that I’d send them a couple of gift cards if they ever decide to get a printer since they’ve helped me with some of my photos and models. It would be good to know if this isn’t possible anymore so I can explain the change; disappointing if that is the case but I understand changing the policy going forward.

I know it isn’t a perfect solution, but a viable alternative that I’ve used in the past (with Printables filament vouchers) is just placing the order for my friends, and Venmo charging them the balance of what they owe me.

I am fine with that. But I didn’t get any notification about this change. Second. don’t call it gift card if you can’t give. Just make it account credit instead.

All cards.

Yes, they did not announce it.

i dont really see what you are fighting for so hard… its all the same no matter what you call it. Id like to still be able to send people gift cards i.e. my son , so that sucks if true but I guess they have their reasons just glad i can earn points for free/cheap stuff. Agreed though would be nice to hear of some of the changes beforehand

They do, but their reasons have other solutions.

Another one of those “choose the solution that’s easiest of us instead of proper one” i guess.

It’s hard to enter tens of gc code manually. If it’s lock to my account, credit will be much easier. and I don’t need to track with one is used or not.

No, it won’t improve UX (user experience) whatsoever. You still have to input all of the codes manually, and you still have to check which ones are used.

if you read the makerworld rules… it clearly states that makerworld can make changes to the website or end the reward program at anytime and this without any notifications. It basicly says they can do whatever they want whenever they want without telling you  hope this helps you

In this case they did have a valid reason to not announce it ahead of time.

reading in another thread here makerworld recently had a per @Tanklet ddos attack, dont know if this may be related or causing the issue or if this will be their way forward… just thought interesting as part of the site seems broken

They are separate issues, though both are not great.
