Gift card no longer transferable? what?

good question,Let me explain in detail the concept of “used”
When the user enters the gift card code on the settlement page and clicks APPLY, the gift card is bound to the current user (not waiting until the actual payment is completed), which is the “used” mentioned above.

Oh sh*t, so by testing 4 gift cards to better understand what was being said in this post (I entered the code at checkout without proceeding with the order, just to see if they applied)…did I basically lock them to a test account?

Thanks for the clarification!

After reading more carefully, it seems that for the EU region, it still works like it used to, meaning gift cards aren’t yet tied to any specific account after use. So, in theory, I’m safe, right?

point values, eligible products, redemption requirements and any related terms or any policy, FAQ, or guideline pertaining to MakerWorld Rewards, in whole or in part, at any time and in its sole discretion

I can confirm as of this morning it sort of works as described.
New cards I’ve redeemed since this change work as described and can be transferred to a friend. However all old cards I previously redeemed are permanently tied to my account and cannot be shared. (100% sure they were never entered in the store or anything like that)

So as of now all gift cards prior to this change are locked to individuals accounts but all gift cards going forward, so long as they are not entered into the check out Apply section, can be transferred and freely used by anyone else?

No, all cards, past and future, are unlocked with the ability to lock them by applying them at checkout.

Have you actually tried this? While that might have been the intent, my experience says that’s not the case and all past cards are locked without having applied them at checkout.

no i used to gift old cards all the time no issue, i dont recall if it was after applying them prior or not but tried one a month or so ago and my friend couldnt use it, dont think i ever tried to apply it prior… they need a tool to verify codes, but i guess that could be compromised somehow and cause more issues… really a simple “used” stamp or grayed out card would make it easier to know which have been used or not

Yeah I’m hoping a Bambu employee can help answer this question because that isn’t the case. I have cards that have never been touched before that cannot be applied at checkout if it isn’t my direct account. If you’re having a different experience with cards older than October perhaps then let us know because if so it may only be doing it for older cards pre-10year expiration change

Cards shouldn’t be locked until you use them because it wouldn’t know what account to bind them to. @xiaoxiniu is welcome to clarify, though.

They are already linked to a bambu account so yes they would know which account to lock them to, its the same account you can use on both MW and the store

No, they wouldn’t spend the time to lock the old ones down by going through the db of cards and locking them.

They wouldn’t need to, all the codes are linked to the MW account that claimed them already, you can see them in your transaction history and even check the balances on them

So it would be pretty easy to enforce with minimal effort

And don’t worry about that code its already been used :stuck_out_tongue:

except for previous contest winners the contest cards of the past were not in the redemption list… dont know if they changed that part or not but different process

Sure those probably aren’t, but that isn’t that many and chances are most of those have probably already been used

There’s no point in debating it. Are your gift cards not locked if someone else’s account tries them at checkout? Because I just had this happen and I wouldn’t be in this forum if it’s not true😂if you’re gift cards pre-October 10year expiration change work perfectly fine on other peoples account besides your own then good for you! This forum thread isn’t about things that work perfectly, it’s about letting the bugs and issues be known so either contribute knowledge on the issue or keep quite and move along👌

All of my cards are locked as I’ve applied them all to my account, so I’m not able to test different cards.
