H2C Other Build Plates

Short of ordering direct from China it seems like 3rd-party build plates are all made out of unobtanium right now, at least in the US. I guess it takes time to get a product to market or something… sheesh! (j/k) Ordered a Glacier from Amazon while they showed in stock, but it’s in limbo (delivery keeps getting delayed) and the product shows unavailable now. They do list the textured PEI version as in stock but I’m not seeing a reason to get that over the Bambu version (except maybe for the grid markings). Actually I haven’t checked AliExpress for actual stock either, but I despise using that site so I generally stay away.

Guess we wait! On the positive side, this provides more time to make careful analytical decisions

Why don’t you order directly from BTT, price?

That’s a good question! Yea, it’s too cheap on their site… LOL. j/k. I honestly didn’t even consider I could order direct from them, assuming it would be the usual sketchy shipping from China. Saw it on the 'zon (“Shipped by Amazon” not BIQU) and figured that’d be simpler with more recourse available to me should anything go bad… ha, but now it’s in limbo so gotta wait for that to play out. OTOH the biqu.equipment shopping site gets terrible TrustPilot ratings, so I guess YMMV.

Anyway, thanks for pointing that out!

AliExpress has a BigTreeTech official store.

I already have the Pyrogrip and Glacier for H2C and the Frostbite is in transit.

These are Chinese manufactured so using a Chinese store makes sense to me.

Don’t be fooled by low headline prices as it just shows the cheapest option on any listing. In your example it is probably an A1 Mini 180x180 plate.

You do have to triple check you’ve ordered the right products before final checkout.

Amazon sellers are probably buying from AliExpress and marking it up significantly in price

I think this is it…

This is the actual item I bought my H2C plates from…

I just found this on AliExpress:
BIGTREETECH Panda Build Plate CryoGrip Pro Glacier Sheet Spring Steel 3D Printer Parts For Bambu Lab H2D H2S H2C 3D Printer

Thanks. I’m curious how/is the Pyrogrip different from the Bambu textured PEI? Don’t recall anyone else describing it (or maybe I missed it).

The Amazon listings I’m looking at in the US are from the “official” BigTreeTech store. As far as I can tell. https://www.amazon.com/stores/BIGTREETECHDirect/page/5A6DDF4C-4CEF-41E0-BA5E-921B06C23D28 (Not an endorsement!)

Yea I don’t know what shipping from China is like in the UK, but for me it’s just too much uncertainty. Especially “these days” in the US, if you know what I mean. Maybe it’ll come in 3 days (ha!) or 3 weeks, or maybe not at all, or maybe be mangled if it does arrive… just be patient. I’m just not that patient, usually. But to each their own. Typically it is much more reliable to order from stock already in the US and I don’t mind a reasonable upcharge for that.

Cheers,
-Max

Ah yes, sorry I forgot that import into your location might be a bit more hassle than UK!

The pyrogrip plate claims more grip the hotter you set the bed temperature. And then low grip when it cools to room temperature.

It seems to work quite well but I’ve not done a head to head comparison with all the same settings. But I’ve switched to it if something doesn’t want to stick!

OTOH If I’m printing something that doesn’t seem likely to be problematic in PLA I sometimes go for the Glacier.

Its a regular PEI plate without a coating. The adhesion will be less than OEM plate but its very handy for 90/85A TPU and PEBA since those stick too well to OEM PEI plate with the new coating.

I have the exact same problem. I remove the plate and then put it right back in and the error goes away. However, the error will return on the very next print. Looking for a solution.

OMG, the river people sent me an empty box. 22x16x9" box with some packing paper inside. After > 2 weeks wait. Lightest build plate ever, and no glue required! Unbelievable. I’m so eating my words right now… gonna go order some stuff from AliExpress!

It is in stock now

180CAD :face_with_spiral_eyes:

21$ on aliexpress…

Gotta catch 'em all, right?

Ordered a DUO… will see if it lives up to the price point. Also considering a pair of kid gloves for handling that…

FWIW for the US AE site, the Glacier shows as $37 and FB for $46, plus change and $17 shipping (from “BIGTREETECH Global Official” seller) . On the BIQU site they’re $29 and $36, respectively, + $6 shipping (or free if you order enough stuff) + state sales tax. Though Glacier is out of stock (and FB is about to be).

Of course the prices might all be about to change… again… or not… LOL. Tariff chaos.

I am glad you got one. I found it because I ordered a H2C and wanted to get another DUO. I tried to casually bring this up to my wife last night. The order for the H2C was cancelled shortly thereafter…

I say cancel the plate keep the H2C

after using the new super tack for about 2month - i can say its the worst i ever had… it sticks good but u have to fight to get everything off while fighting it u will scratch it… i still liked the old version better… im getting a frostbite now…

That’s crazy to hear. My experience has been great thus far. Good adhesion and prints remove from the plate just fine. I think the only time I’ve had to use the scraper was to get some tree supports off the plate.

I wonder if it may be the filament you’re using? Maybe its chemical composition isn’t quite compatible with the supertack pro coating?

I suspect that many people don’t follow basic recommendations and fail to wait for the model to cool down. Instead, they try to remove it from the build plate immediately after printing, while the PLA is still soft. Many also leave the plate in place and simply grab the model to pull it off. If they waited for the model to cool, removed the plate, and gently bent it, 99% of prints would release perfectly.

CryoGrip Frostbite and Glacier arrived yesterday. After 2 months of pre ordering ^^

I had both also for the X1C - and the frostbite then was not for ABS, but the surface was way more stickier. I tried the H2C variant today. Its totally fine, but i could remove the Prints easily with the hand. On the X1C version I have needed the razor blade every time because it stuck so well. Will test it more …

But now I own for my H2C

  • Structured PEI
  • Engineering Plate
  • 3D Effect Plate Diamond/Carbonfiber
  • CryoGrip Frostbite
  • CryoGrip Glacier

Im happy for now

Congrats!

That’s a “funny” coincidence… My re-delivery of the Glacier from Amazon is scheduled for tomorrow, and I got the shipping notice the same day that those plates started showing as in stock on the BIQU site (for me in the US, anyway). We’ll see if they managed to actually put something in the box this time! :crossed_fingers:

The Darkmoon plate is beautiful, definitely unlike any of the BL H2C plates, on either side. I broke it in with some PEBA Air experiments, because you know, it’s more fun to try two new things at the same time than just one (and very scientific). Got it to stick fine, and release, from both surfaces after raising the temps a bit, but with that stuff there’s a fine line somewhere between just sticking w/out warp and getting hardened on the plate side after a longer print, which also makes it harder to get off. (Very cool filament BTW! Printable low-temp open-cell foam rubber, basically.)

Also printed some PLA T+ on the satin side, which sticks crazy well, and I was scared to leave it on there too long after print (will try dropping temps even more next time). Seemed like adhesion was increasing as it cooled, but IDK for sure yet. One downside with having carbon sheet on one side is the plate isn’t very flexible for getting prints off of the PEI side. Lovely smooth surface on the prints.

I’ll add more closeup comparison photos to my other collection once I get the Glacier and try some more “scientific” tests on all the plates (maybe in a new thread).

-Max

That was the reason why i bought a satin AND a CFX plate last year for the X1C. Just 10 or 20$ more - but two plates with a double sides satin and a single sides CFX.

Sadly i never could use them. But … they felt beautifully
