“H2D Hits All the Right Notes—Thanks, Bambu!”

The H2D is seriously impressive. The packaging is top-tier, the unit looks sharp, and the print head moves like a dream—smooth and steady. It’s a joy to watch. The lighting’s on point, the AMS Pro 2 is quick, and the setup? Couldn’t be easier. Did I mention the 2 head printing? Sexy

Big thanks to the Bambu Crew—I’m stoked to have this printer and can’t wait to see what you’ve got up your sleeve next!

I feel like there’s a few early adapter road bumps, but overall I’ve been really impressed and pleased too!

I like how much brighter it is in the printer itself. The X1/P1 always felt like a dark cave with crawly things lurking, ready to bite you, any time you put your hand in there.

The most recent X series (and P?) ship with clear front doors which actually makes a noticeable difference compared to the original tinted doors.

The build quality, appearance and presentation were all top notch. I was super happy with the whole thing. This is coming from someone who tries to be brand agnostic.

There was only one tiny thing I would have added, one spool of filament. When people’s first printer is a Bambu and they put that filament in and the AMS recognizes it automatically… well you’ve hooked them on filament too.

The most frustrating thing for me so far is… that I don’t have it yet! AMS 2 seems like it will fix every problem with AMS 1 I’ve had though. Except dealing with silica gel…

I’d argue that is the only thing the drying function fixes fully. I’m think the AMS 2 Pro will effectively be a one-time desiccant fill deal. Put it in and start a drying cycle every once in a while, and the desiccant will likely dry out too. So largely, maintenance free desiccant-wise. There are hoops to jump through for the drying though, so don’t expect it to be super convenient.

Yeah it’s quite good. I think it might even outperform the X1C in polycarbonate, which I wasn’t expecting with the bed being so huge, but it’s just chugging away.

I’ve only ever ran 1 AMS per printer for the last 2 years, but the H2D quickly inspired me to grab another. I’m so much more open to multicolor without the purges. (99% of the time I just do 2 colors)

I have been a Prusa user for years and was going to get the Core One, paid for it etc - and then the H2D dropped and I thought… ’ why not!’

I am really pleased with the print quality, speed and design of the H2D and as a commercial print creator, its very important that the printers ‘just work’.

It’s been quite the experience with dual Ams 2 boxes and this printer.

In all fairness, I’ve taken apart an AMS2 already. It was stuck with a tiny piece of filament inside. It wasn’t hard, but I’ve had very few hours on it. I think it was likely some old-ass wood filament that I didn’t dry long enough in the AMS dryer. So it was kind of a test.

Also, with Bambu brand PETG HF in the blue color, I keep getting this message which stops the print. “Ai detected nozzle clumping. Please check the nozzle condition. Refer to assistant for solutions.”

It only has happened with the blue PETG. But it happens constantly. I changed AI sensitivity to low, but it still kept happening. So I’ve turned it off for now.

It’s just great for 2 colors. It is an awesome solution that the engineers arrived at.
I need to try some ASA. I can get small prints to work on the X1C. But anything big will warp like a beach.

Just so you’re aware, this guy did the same thing and nearly destroyed his extruder. Looks like they might need to tweak the AI detection a bit so there’s less false positives

I’ll save you the time, his solution is “to avoid clumping, don’t turn off the feature that’s supposed to detect clumping”

It actually worked really well for me out of the box. But obviously, it isn’t going to catch everything perfectly. But I have to say its been impressive at stopping quickly and correctly.

The only thing I don’t like. “Which I need to be here for a while before I can make a feature request” is how much power it pulls on bed heating. I don’t need it to heat up in 10 seconds, I would gladly wait a minute to have it pull have as much power and not have my UPS yell at me every time I start a print.

Try ABS GF for stable flat surfaces. But it’s lower strength than ABS.

Whats the watt/VA rating of your UPS? I haven’t installed one yet. I’m assuming it will need to be 1500VA.

I have a CyberPower 1500VA/1000W and it screams like a banshee whenever I start a print on the H2D. It looks like it would be over $500 for a UPS that can handle it as things currently stand. Mine is fine when the H2D is printing, I only expect it to last a few minutes.

That’s disappointing. I have a couple of those units. I see the same big jump in price to go to higher power.

Yep, bought an Anker Solix C1000 specifically for the H2D. 1800W output should be enough for the H2D and 2 AMS units. I can also get a solar panel to charge it for emergencies.

Just be aware that even if it’s for short periods, such high power draw will kill your UPS batteries very quickly if it’s pulling on them and not fully bypassing them since they’re rated for much less load. You likely won’t know they’re dead until you actually need to use them. I made a similar mistake before and only found out when I tried to use the UPS for backup power after a hurricane and it kept dying at 86% battery remaining when I was trying to run a small fan for circulation

Does the C1000 specs allow it to be always plugged in at 100% and work as a UPS? Have you tested with the H2D startup?

I was disappointed that my LFP Bluetti recommends against that pratice.
