I dont know why people are not talking about how epic this printer is. Got mine today and went through the setup and calibration. Printing a benchy now and this thing is insane! So much more quiet and smooth. I think these reviewers are not giving this thing its full respect. I have 3000+ hours on my X1C and I am beyond impressed with the H2D so far. It is wicked fast and quiet. The build quality is crazy impressive. Can you buy and elegoo carbon for 299 sure, but you are NOT getting this type of quality. You really get what you pay for. I just want to give a huge shout out to Bambu for again blowing my mind.
This is definitely par for the course Iāve found: some YouTubers need to ākeep it realā with the mob coming for them calling them āshillsā if they so much as smile at a good print.
Many have praised it, many have brought up an isssue or two which is good because the more sunlight an issue has the faster itāll get fixed. But as for the launch and how itās reviewed: we may recall the very bumpy start the Prusa XL had, with some reviewers simply unable to get a print much less a good one. Similarly the elegoo Orange Storm giga. These two flagships (halo in the case of the elegoo), had deal breaking failures upon release. The H2D had an obscure 0.2mm nozzle 0.12mm profile mismatch in the slicer, and a small area of the build plate with a temp difference. The first was fixed already, the second is being worked on. Critics ironically arenāt even jumping on these sole two issues, but the inherent opinion based judgement that āNo OnE sHouLd bUy ThE h2D beCaUsE LaSeR!ā And every reply is āyou can buy it without the laserā
I also feel the need to point out a phenomenon more rampant than any fanboyism or corporate fandom to corporate fandom badmouthing: Anti-parasocial relationships - aka āhatersā. Some companies garner a lot of these APR havers, these people are anti-fans of a brand and go out of their way to troll and denigrate. We saw these people jump on the firmware update situation, and they persist grasping at straws with the H2Dās totally optional laser.
It all boils down to āthe man in the arenaā people who donāt own an H2Dās opinions donāt matter. Look to those who own and use it.
Thanks for coming to my ted talk
Well said! Weāre sadly living in a time now where positive reviews are deemed illegal by a large group of (internet) users, and this goes for pretty much everything out there (cars, computers, 3D printers, drones, ā¦).
If a product truly is near perfection theyāll be sure to find some phantom issue and then focus all of their attention on that.
Canāt wait to receive my H2D next week and be in awe myself
Do we know what the wattage on the hotend heaters are?
Watt age you say?
Barely days old, they have just been born.
I really like the H2D so far. Of the one I got. I havenāt got into any multi-color printing yet since I donāt really have any projects like that sitting around. I did some basic PETG-HF prints though and those turned out nicely.
Setup and all of that was a breeze. The interior is might brighter vs the X1C. I have added lights, but when I turn them off you barely notice on the H2D because itās as well lit. With the X1C it goes dark.
Hereās a picture just to show how much bigger the H2D is vs the X1C. Itās huge! If it was any bigger, Iād have troubles fitting it within my workspace here. The added handle areas along the bottom edge are nice and helpful when manhandling that beast.
The toolhead.
My broken door handle
The AMS2 has less sharp edges
The light bar along the bottom edge of the bed is neat. Changes color based on status.
Is the glass door fine just the handle?
Yup. The screw looked like it sheered at the threads, and part of the screw is stuck in the handle itself. Itās just the bottom screw. I havenāt encountered any other issues/damage. Everything seems to be working smoothly other than that little handle issue.
The biggest disappointment is the day is coming near an end and I have to work tomorrow. I wish I had more time to just sit and horse around with everything.
Also, from my first few prints. VFAs are like⦠gone. I printed a few pieces for a project Iām working on. Identical part from X1C to H2D, and the H2D one looks better!
The first layer looks perfect. Like I thought the X1C looked nice, but the H2D puts down a proper nice first layer. Itās magical.
I was able to talk to a couple of the influencers that I personally know that got demo units the weekend before release at an event face to face and get the real lowdown from them. All of both of them pretty much had the same thing to say about it. Both were mostly positive and the criticisms shadow a lot of what end users have been saying about the build volume. As a printer it seems to be a welcome new addition in their opinions. They werenāt negative about the laser but only said that it worked well on the few things they did with it.
They were careful to not reveal anything other than it in their opinion is a good printer. Honestly Iām only interested in the printer aspects of it so the only price point Iām looking at are the prices stated for the AMS and non AMS printer versions. Donāt need a laser I have an xtool, and I donāt need a cutter I have 2 Cricuts. So the price point of the laser version is irrelevant to me as well as any associated performance of those features.
What Iām most excited about, and most disappointed in, is build volume, the dual hot end may be a nice bonus for breakaway supports and potentially one having as .04 and the other a .06 nozzle so Iām not constantly having to swap nozzles or keeping a dedicated .06 machine. The heated chamber is also a big want in my book. I know the x1E has it but Iād already bought my fleet of x1,and p1 machines so it wasnāt like I was going to replace them just for the sake of a heated build chamber.
Itās good to hear that those getting them in the real world are experiencing good results.
Does the door use the same screw positions as the X1C/P1S door? Someone will/should make a replacement model sooner or later, but if it is the sameā¦
heehee
I heard an interesting take from the 3D musketeers podcast I listened to recently.
They proposed that if bambulab had just released the H2D (without the laser) the reaction would have been much more positive. The bigger build area, higher temp nozzle, better multi-material support (dual nozzles), heated chamber, servo motors, precision upgrades etc. It was exactly what everyone had been asking for - it would have been cautiously positive at worst. A predictable iteration on the fabulously sucessful X1C.
However, rather than focusing on that, the focus turned to the laser module (frickāin lasers) and how terrible that is (probably) going to be inside a 3d printer chamber - (rightly) questioning safety and how the burnt vapours are going to affect the inner workings of the printer.
Personally, I ordered the laser version as the versatility vs space considerations appealed to me. Iāve had multiple 3d printers for over decade but never used laser tools. Iām laser curious and this option appealed to me.
Iām equally interested in the cutter tbh.
Now, imagine if the 40w laser toolhead also fit on future Bambulab hardware release that took a more laser first approach?
I get that everyone is entitled to their opinion and I found the 3D Musketeers hypothesis resonated pretty well - the sentiment may have been better if they released the basic first and followed it up with a laser upgrade in a few months. That seems likely, but for me personally Iām glad they didnāt.
It seems simple to me. Itās a bigger, more versatile 3D printer and if it is as good as my X1C (almost 2k hours) customers will probably be happy. If that customer doesnāt like the idea of a laser inside their print chamber (for a multitude of legitimate reasons) - then get the non-laser version.
Maybe they will do a standalone laser machine next, and this is their beta/testing platform for the hardware and software.
STOP MAKING ME WANT MINE SOONER
It feels like the H2D was developed for 3d printing primarlily, with the add on modules as an additional nice to have feature. I really think they did a great job improving things all around on the printing aspect. I got this only for 3D printing but the option to add a cutter or pen plotter in the future is cool I guess. It would annoy me to no end if I ended up with the laser version with the green glass. The build volume is pretty huge already and have utilized it completely with a custom stand I am working on.
Because, some of us are still waiting to ship out, some ship out a month later April 25th. I am surprise there is no pre-stock in CA.
The plain non-laser is due to ship April 3rd in CA if you ordered right away.
What is really funny about the new printer⦠I am not getting the laser combo, because well, I think I am on the side of the fence that doesnāt think it should happen in my printer, lol. But, this new launch now has me wanting a laser, lol. Not in the printer, but a stand alone. Wasted time now being spent searching for lasers.
This is very good news! I am happy to see they addressed that.
