Has anyone else had their power supply fan fail?

Looks like after about 400hrs my power supply fan is failing. I know Bambu doesn’t use meanwell supplies, but would there be any risk to switching to a quality meanwell unit that matches the specs of the OEM unit instead of dealing with support? I have messaged support, but I’m not sure how long this fan on the power supply is gonna hold out and I have heard horror stories of support taking weeks and weeks.

Also, has anyone here removed the rear cover? I did it on my P1S when I added a heater, so I’m wondering if the H2D is significantly more difficult.

Unfortunately I can’t post a video here, but it sounds like a vacuum cleaner.

As with anything on an online product forum the criticisms are often greatly over exaggerated. I waited 3 days for the initial response for an issue on the AMS HT heater I had, and it took about a week to solve receiving a response every day from support. I got the part 2 days after they sent it.

Oh that reminds me, the first AMS-HT I bought was DOA… I really need to reach out to support about that too LOL.

I have to manually spin start the fan for any drying cycle, otherwise it tries to power the fan(which twitches) but doesn’t actually start.

I put in a support ticket yesterday, so we will see what happens as it’s the weekend now.

No issue as long as its the same voltage on the primary & secondary. And your VA/Watt is the same or larger. I haven’t looked at it yet, but just make sure that they aren’t using any other auxiliary alarms on the power supply if available.

If you send them a support ticket, preemptively include the correct mailing address that you want them to send it to. Otherwise it’ll be another back and forth

Don’t do it if you aren’t comfortable working around large capacitors and high voltage - but if it were me I’d replace the fan in the PSU.

If you aren’t comfortable with that - then obviously don’t do it.

Just saw a YouTube video posted yesterday with someone having the same issue. Support said AC board but the power supply you can find on Amazon for cheaper if support doesn’t send one out. You can get a better one that will fit. I think it’s maxing out the power supply with the 1700 watts pull to heat the bed and heads all at once. They could fix that in a firmware update. Good luck hope it’s fixed asap.

I’ve also had an awesome experience with them. It took about 2 days for the initial response, but after that, I heard from them almost daily until the issue I was working was resolved. You have to set your expectations, understand the timezone difference and be patient.

One response per day will be your max you receive. Even if you respond at the beginning if their workday.

So, try and cover everything possible, in your first message. If it requires alot of troubleshooting, it could take a while

Too many responses here so I’ll try to answer everything.

  1. Yea it looks to be a 350w, 24V unit. It looks a hell of a lot like a meanwell, but is branded as something else.

  2. I am comfortable with it. If you look at my post history I somewhat recently posted a picture of a custom lithium battery I put in my 2000 Honda insight, with a 7.2kw gen 2 volt charger.

  3. The power supply is a 24V 350W unit. They have pretty good pictures on the wiki for replacing it actually.

  4. The only interaction I had took something like 10 days for the first response. I’m also understanding that I sent my support ticket in extremely late on Friday, so I don’t expect a response until at least Tues. I’m just hoping they don’t jerk me around, I generally know wtf I’m talking about, and I’m 100% sure it’s the PSU after looking at multiple teardowns/pictures of the back.

Hey Balto,

i find the removing of the back panel easier than with the X1C:

The wiki even describes which screw goes where.
This wasn’t the case with the x1c before.

→ i replaced the heated bed, mine was a totally desaster
