HELP! z-axis broke! Rear destroyed

simple PLA-CF, rods looking so shinny and clean atm even with the grease. I assume the rods are made out of a quality stainless steel or something, right…

They are probably of good quality but, carbon fibers might start scratching into the surface of the thread. If you eventually get an original part, the rough surface might start scratching the inner thread again.

I sincerely would avoid glass or carbon filled filaments.

I would also change the rod

unfortunately bambu doesn’t offer these parts for sale

That bothers me about Bambu. They will sell most parts, but it can not be as easy as just ordering it. It is a pain to open up a support ticket every time.

Not good, i think it should also be changed because when this is the cause the new brass part will be destroyed again.

May it be that this happens to early version of the H2D, since Bambu forgot to e.g. use a screw lock paste for securing the screw holding the belt driven wheel onto the steel rod and it simply becomes loose?

But in some video the rod was not turning anymore, so it seems to not being driven by the belt anymore.

I did not check if my later version has some screw lock applied or if there is even a screw.

I asked the other guy that posted the same problem, to check the screws and he said they weren’t loose. Seeing that the threads are more worn on one side tells me that the nut had constant pressure on the one side, from a misalignment or something. Like the bed to screw mount location should have been .5mm farther to the rear or front, or the lead screw popped out of its upper mount. I believe there were multiple units delivered with the upper mount completely out of place.

Just a technical note, greaseless lead screw nuts nowadays are not just plain POM (unless cutting cost), they are usually an impregnated proprietary material, such as those from Igus. These are certainly better than a lubricated brass lead screw nut IMHO for a machine like this. I wish BBL went that route, likely we could order a replacement from Igus but it’s probably a custom order. Those would last the life of the machine though!

Failing lead screw nuts in the first year is an incredibly poor defect and design concern, hopefully it’s rare and only possible as a result of bad assembly or uncommon mfg defect. I’m really hoping we don’t see many of these.

My H2D is a week old, mine don’t look like that at all

Coming back to this thread. I just discovered damage on my rear Z rods area too. Unsure when or how it happened, I did not have any loose models to cause such a colission, so I suspect either bad assemply (check the centered photo, whole assemply seems shifted to the left, or its related to toolhead crash that their latest bambu lab update caused (ticket is live)

That’s scary, bad design or as you say possibly tool head crash, if so must have been some force

Full force crash. Full travel move because it was trying to go 2 meters away from bed (bug in new bambu update studio making the primetower have a line extending to infinity)

Thing is, does it seem like the whole back has shifted to left or is it just me ? Check the mounting plate of the linear rod/threaded rod , looks like its off.

To clarify, im not trying to hijack the thread, im posting this info because if the assembly IS shifted, but it wasnt caused by the crash, then this is an assemply issue, and could explain the missaligned wear signs on the threaded rod thingies.

Just checked my h2d and h2c

FML

is that same place as mine?

Yeah. Im guessing the same thing is causing the premature wear to the rear lead screw nut. The rear bed to screw mount location needs extended by a mm

which means im probably next..
@SupportAssistant your techies need to get to work. Double time.. Is this why I paid 2.400 euros? For a printer that will destroy itself before its one year old?

I’m just gonna ride it out until it breaks completely. I hate dealing with support. The exhaust fan switching hasn’t worked on my H2C since I got it. Did not contact support or post here, because of the hassle

Well i already have an active ticket. Lets see what they say this time

Dude what? I would have lost my ■■■■.. I pay full price I expect full product. Sorry maybe its because i work too hard for my money. Like really, i need holidays..
