Holy 2d printed Christmas Contest (north pole contest)

I havent looked at contests much lately but decided to see what the Christmas one was about. Practically everything in the contest is hueforge garbage or thin little prints (ornaments, wall art, etc.)that are barely considered 3d printed… I thought hueforge was not allowed in the contests? What a disaster these contests have become, low hanging fruit designs with hardly any thought or effort to them… There are some actual quality models, but unfortunately most is ****.

I just checked, no where does it say Hueforge is not allowed. And there is a difference between a well made model and a poor one - I can easily find terrible full 3d models just as I can 2d one’s. In the top 200 trending models in the Christmas contest there are only 4-5 hueforge entries, and they are very nicely made and have a lot of downloads - clearly people enjoy them. In fact there are many more keychain/vector style 2d extrudes than hueforge entries, and those are also doing very well in that top 200. I am sure if I skimmed through the next few hundred entries i’d start to see the poor quality entries though, but that is normal and expected for any contest regardless of the style of output.

I get you don’t like it, but people speak with their actions and they definitely enjoy that kind of thing based on the volume of downloads and prints.

only thing i would agree with you on here is yes there are garbage 3d prints on there as well, but all the low hanging 2d junk is just flooded there just under different keywords i.e bauble or ornament or window picture… im guessing you are a hueforge boy, since you are defending it so hard… contests are just too easy to farm points throw something irrelevant or low quality and get the extra exposure and bambu gives 5 entries per contest so why even try to create something of quality when you can stamp out 5 hueforge prints with no effort

Defending it? I’m not even in the contest. I’m just pointing out what the data is clearly showing.

The Christmas contest hasn’t started.

The Trip to North Pole contest explicitly states not to add christmas decor.

No one said anything about the trending prints… I said the contest in general, try the “new upload” tab, which i was presented with when i opened the page, and as im sure you were too, but instead you side stepped that to try to make a case. I dont care to have my feed flooded with the junk when im looking for quality models, I dont want to have to sort through oceans of 2d prints to find an actual 3d model of quality I may want to print… Filters dont work cause i have tried to block any and all forms of the word hueforge and baubles … if filtering worked i wouldnt have a complaint … but nonetheless these contests are just filled with junk files burying the good ones… 5 model limit is silly maybe 2 max but it just enables people to throw anything that has the slightest ties to the theme up in hopes of stealing a prize

this is the contest im talking about, sorry if it was such an obstacle to tie the north pole to christmas… but i added north pole to title for those others who couldnt connect the dots

You couldn’t tell by the entries, but it’s not a Christmas contest. (See this thread) Definitely mostly irrelevant or hueforge.

My point was more that this contest might be disappointing because people have no idea what to post there. I guess many great designs are waiting to be released for the actual Christmas contest.

The contest theme is definitely confusing and not worded very well for people who want to enter it.

yeah well north pole pretty much ties to christmas to most people, hence all the christmas entries, but i actually read the criteria of the contests to try my best to comply. I think they need a pop up style confirmation with the rules that they have to click confirming they understand said rules before they can enter…idk its just deflating to even want to participate in them anymore. You would think the contest judges would want to make it easier on themselves to not have to filter through 3k entries

Hueforge drives me nuts. I can’t stand seeing the fake pictures and then looking at the actual “model”/mess. I wish they didn’t exist or no points are awarded, but no Makerworld insists to let these eyesores ruin EVERYTHING.

No refunds after download…

I’ve had two things removed from that contest for not being relevant, an igloo and a sleigh - but snowmen and grinches that literally have nothing to do with the topic seem to be fine

Every contest i’ve entered has inconsistent moderation on makerworld

Report them, they may be removed.
I’ve reported 18 from the castle contest, all 18 have been removed from the contest.

I’m not wasting my own time because they can’t moderate their own contest!

If they’re going to offer monetary prizes in their contests they should know everyone under the sun is going to enter unrelated rubbish in an attempt to win - They need at least one person to consistently moderate them

At this point the rules mean nothing and people know they mean nothing

Agreed - frankly one single employee could do this without too much effort. This employee could also use an AI to help it go faster to at least auto-flag potentially irrelevant entries for manual review.

I think we’ll get there eventually, this is just growing pains stuff they probably know they need to deal with.

Why was my post just reported? I was only saying this topic is evolving into the link.

I’m guessing somebody’s feelings got hurt and flagged posts?

One of multiple topics about point farming or model moderation problems?
