Horrible Squeaking, possibly ball screw bearing

Sent a ticket to BambuLap, but figured I would post here as well because there are some smart folks that might have an idea what this is… MY assumption is bad bearing on a ball screw base.

You put oil on the lead screws?

I had a squeaking problem and it turned out to be my spool holder.

I have a headset with an electronic microphone to find noises but most likely you don’t have this tool so the next best thing is to get a hose and put it up to your ear I find the loudest point.

Check if the Z bearings outer race is not spinning in the housing they are a press fit.

You can put a few drops of oil in the Z bearing if it’s making the noise.

The Z rods brass nuts you can listen to them also.

You have the Z belt tensioner & pulley under the bottom also a spring so might have to inspect also.

Keep us updated :v:

mine had a slight squeak during certain movements. it was the z belt tensioner mentioned above. its underneath.

There was (?) a problem that sometimes occured that the back of the buildplate scratched on the inner housing of the printer in the middle - maybe?

A bearing would make a different noise and more often, every rotation, not just every 15 or so rotations

Ok everyone found the culprit. It was the Z-axis belt (bottom of the machine) rubbing on the upper lip of the pulley. Added a very subtle amount of grease to the top edge of the belt and it’s gone. This was suggested by Bambu support. They are great!

Did you use the bambu grease or some other brand? I thought about a small amount of super lube?

Any thoughts?

Thanks for this thread! I had the same issue. A dab of grease on the Z tensioner pulley upper flange fixed it!

Can anyone send a photo please as i probanly have same problem.
So i know where to put the greese

+1
I also have this issue and do not know where to put grease. A Foto / instruction would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

this is the video they sent me

Thank you very much. But isn’t this the X/Y tensioner? My sqeaking sound appears when moving the Z Axis.

I had the same issue just recently. I ended up spraying a tiny bit of white lithium spray grease on both flanges of the Z tensioner pulley. That - up to now - seem to have helped. I think the video is just to make clear how to apply grease to the belt. They just happen to have a video on how to do it on the XY-belt…

Thank you. So to reach the z-belt I have to somehow disassemble the bottom of the printer, I guess.

  1. Whilst still turned on, lower the bed all the way to the bottom, I usually also put the tool head to front corner as well for good measure, not sure if there is a specific reason - I just do that.
  2. Unplug power, ams, all extra bits. Take off Top glass and LCD panel and put soemwhere safe
  3. If you have external spool holder\bracket… I recommend taking that off. it get snagged sometimes.
3b. I also secure the front door with a small piece of tape to the side, so it doesnt swing around and ptoentially smash into something.
  4. Turn printer and lay it down on its LEFT SIDE (this is where 3 somtimes snags) - and with the normal front bottom edge facing you, so your looking up underneath it :stuck_out_tongue:

** WIKI says left side, but with taping the door, removing the spool holdder and being careful, I have also just puit it on its back but watch the AMS buffer and things.

Congrats. your now looking at your “Z” belt :stuck_out_tongue: The base is not enclosed.

Wiki here for replacing will help somewhat

Oh!!! I thought I had to get there somehow from the inner chamber :man_facepalming:. Thank you so much! I will try as soon as possible.

Thanks everyone and happy holidays to those who have some.

@VinceVega13 check this video out. Is this the sound your hearing, yes the video is not as helpful as I was wishing but the comment on how he solved thes issues was. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FF_XB2bCYPU&ab_channel=BSamm

hi. thanks for the answer.
that’s exactly it. I also saw the video but, until DruiD posted the detailed “how to”, I wasn’t sure how to get to the bottom z-belt. but you just need to flip the printer. there is no need to disassemble any housing or so.
