How are we able to dry filament with AMS 2 Pro and P1S?

Thanks! Looking forward to your review.

Just printed the Dry Pods! They fit perfectly, i’m very happy with them. The print didn’t turn out perfect, but that’s more of a problem on my end. The top caps from the smaller ones do not fit 100%, there’s a small gap, but not that big so it doesn’t really mather.

Do you mean by that you changed some slicer settings yourself, or something else? I’m about to print these as well and want to make sure I use the correct settings.

I didn’t dry my filament and i had high humidity (4 to 5 drops in Bambu Studio) inside the AMS. You can print the dry pods with the default settings from the profile. no worries.

Nope, only 6 pin cables in the box and the power from the printer runs to the filament Hub.

What powers the AMS 2 when used with the H2D?

The H2D can power I believe 2 - AMS 2 Pro units by itself, if I’m not mistaken.

There is a warning saying drying power reduced when printing from the non-drying AMS. So yes you can have one AMS drying at less than optimal power while the H2D prints from the other AMS. I bought power adapters anyway as it wasn’t a huge cost, and I’d rather both AMS drying during any ‘down time’.

I have not tested it yet as I am in the middle of a print, however they have a new P1S beta firmware 1.07.50.18 which references adding AMS 2 Pro support. Not sure if this will add the drying feature.

"BETA” Firmware Update for P1S with AMS 2 Pro Filament Dryer / drying function is now released and works via operation by the printer display and overview by Bambu Studio or APP

Awesome! Wonder when the GA release will be available.

What is GA meaning? Sorry :see_no_evil:

General Availability (ie the release of the patch to everyone thats not beta testing)

Hello, I have updated to the latest P1S firmware (01.07.50.18 Beta) as well as the latest versions of Studio and Handy- I still cannot have (or can find) the drying/filament control functions for my AMS 2. I’ve power cycled the units several times.

The P1S firmware release notes state “update before plugging in the AMS2”, but I’ve had my AMS2 for weeks, hooked up and standing by for this update.

Those who currently have a working P1S/AMS2 rig, are there anymore details to share?

01.07.50.18 is the BETA version where they have integrated the AMS 2 Pro Filament drying function for Bambu P1S and the operation you should find at the printers display by self if you are using original display and not PANDA and Co…!

@user_219207677 After installing the beta of both the P1S to 1.07.50.18 and the AMS2 Firmware to 2.00.19.47, you should be able to control the AMS2 using the P1S screen. The option is under the second icon on the left hand side.

I did find a minor defect and what I would consider a major defect with the beta, so I restored back to GA for now.

Minor Defect: Selecting Drying Preset “PLA” and then “Start Drying” gives me an message “Please remove and store the filament. Filament left in the feeder during drying may soften materials like PLA and TPU.” It will not let me continue until I remove the BL PLA with the RFID. Since I had PLA selected as the preset, I would assume it would be configured to dry PLA and not make me remove it.

Major Defect: During my second print after the Beta install, the toolhead went to the front left corner and started grinding, trying to continue in that directly beyond the stopping point. It then moved to the front right corner and tried to do the same thing. After it moved to the corner, dropped the plate 3 inches and started feeding filament through well above the current print. Hindsight, I should have gotten video of it.

I posted both defects as bug report, turns out the minor defect regarding not allowing me to dry PLA is a feature:

My P1S doesn’t see the AMS Pro 2 firmware, it just sees v0. It works like a normal AMS1. Will this appear after the P1S firmware is released?

I also discovered & report a couple of issues / BUG’s but found out that some also been existing before like no icon for AMS settings under German language and last issue was that all customised Filaments disappeared from the AMS selection list :see_no_evil:

Can I assume this is also true for the X1 as well?
