How are we able to dry filament with AMS 2 Pro and P1S?

I just received what I believe is the non-beta release of the firmware for both the AMS 2 and P1S for the drying.

P1S: 01.08.00.00
AMS2: 02.00.19.68

Where did you see this? I can’t find anything that has new firmware to update.

The AMS filament drying feature is now available! - Announcements - Bambu Lab Community Forum

For anyone performing the update:
Make sure to disconnect the AMS 2 Pro or AMS HT before performing the update. If any of them are connected, the update might fail or give an error.

I updated my P1S and my AMS 2 pro. But forgot to disconnect AMS 2 pro before. What do I do now? I can’t get “drying”. P1S firmware: 01.08.00.00 AMS PRO2: 02.00.19.68.
The update was successful, and no errors occurred.

It seems OrcaSlicer still works with 1.08. Although it’s not showing the new screen in the device tab, not showing humidity percentage.

I wonder if the Panda Touch would still work and would be able to start the drying process.

How do you actually tell the pro2 to dry.
I updated successfully, both the printer and the Bambu studio software. (See picture)
The only difference I see is it shows you the actual % of moisture. Mine is currently 7% which I think is fine, but I have some new PETG, I would like to cycle in.
Ok, no way to post a photo? :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Printer: 01.08.00.00
AMS 2 Pro (1): 02.00.19.68
AMS (2): 00.01.06.62
AMS Hub: 00.00.00.43

I’m older than most here and struggle with technology, but think I do pretty good. IDk So please forgive me if it is not apparent.
Again
How do you actually tell the pro2 to dry.

On the printer screen it should say dry, thats the only way posible so far and u cannot have rolls inserted into the slots u need to have them disconnected in the ams and locked the rolls in the holes

Disconnect ams shutdown printer let it boot, then shut it again and reconnect ams, then on screen it should show drying in one of the options

Finally drying! The only way I have been able to start the dryer is on the P1S panel. No where in software on PC or android. Softwares are upgraded to show actual percentage of humidity.

Awesome!
Thank you.
I will try that this evening!

I see it now!
Thanks guys!
I thought it was going to show up on Studio. I hardly ever use the printer screen, unless it’s to cancel, unload & extrude to clear.
I wish they had made the screen better. I got a Panda Touch, but it is very limited now. :frowning:

They might upgrade the Touch to manage the drying. But right now the only way to start the drying is with the P1S control. You can’t even do it from the Bambu apps. And I suspect the Touch mimics the app functionality, not the P1S controller.

I did actually get the drying function to work with the P1S.

I need to get use to the poor documentation from Bambu. While they have a nice wiki the instructions are just when using the H2D (unless I missed something).

If you leave the filament in the feeder when you click Start it won’t rotate the rolls. I think they call this Mode 1?

If you take the filament out of the feeders before starting the Drying function it doesn’t know there is filament in there (except, I think, if you have a Bambu roll with RFID, which I don’t).

If you begin the drying function and take the filament out of the feeders and tuck in careful in the spool and then click start the AMS will rotate the spools. I think they call this Mode 2.

So I have gotten both Modes to work at this point.

And opening the door to manage the filaments has raised the humidity far beyond what the desiccant alone had it at.

I try to use the mode 1 as u call,it but it never shows the start screen it always says to remove the filament

If you have PLA in the AMS and choose another drying program than PLA, I think you get the message to remove the filament. They have made it so, because they mean PLA gets to soft at 60 degrees. PLA drying program is at 50 degrees.

Yes, if you click Start anyways it still will start but it won’t rotate while drying.

If you remove the filament from the feeders at that step and then click Start it will rotate the spools.
