I am a beginner model maker. I have created a USB cable organizer. How do you think I can make my model more visible?
How do most people get into the trending category?

Just posting your design here on MakerWorld isn’t going to be enough, you need to promote your design to people who you think are interested in downloading it. Once you get some initial downloads you will rank higher in the trending tab leading to more downloads and interest but you need to kick-start the process yourself.
I’m not very good with Instagram/TikTok but have had a lot of success using Reddit to post new designs. Try not to make it about self promotion but instead solving a problem and post it to a few different subreddits you think might like it (e.g. /r/bambulab, /r/3dprinting, /r/functionalprint, /r/mechanicalkeyboards, etc.).
That looks pretty useful! I might suggest trying to take a better photo to show it off better, though. We’ve got a whole thread on it here: The Ultimate MakerWorld Photography Guide
I agree with the other suggestions, taking quality photos and sharing a story about what problem it’s solved would be very helpful within the communities you post it in.
Just as a side thought for the model itself, I’d love to use something like this but would be interested to be parametric so the end user can say how many slots they want, as well as selecting which cable type they are placing in the storage. Also, having both ends of the connector would be helpful in the diagram. Perhaps also note the lengths that can be used for the coil of cable.
Cheers and happy designing!
I mostly agree. Although I’ve had several models get right up to the top of the trending list all by themselves without any help from social media. But, posting good models on the appropriate site is a great way to boost views for sure. For some reason, I haven’t had great luck with /r/bambulab or /r/3dprinting, but a few other more niche subs had provided some good traction. Another good spot is some of the Facebook 3D groups. They sent one of my models right to the top almost overnight.
like facebook facebook?
i thought facebook hype died when it became a spam platform by elderly people.
this is a genuine question…
i mean 11 boosts within 24 hours is pretty good, and not to mention your design is pretty useful, you should expect a steady interaction rate within the year.
also, maybe you should make a multiple profiles of various slots options, and make the usb types customizable so that users can choose the type they need.
There are a couple of very active 3d print groups on there that you can join. Lots of interaction with the members.
I’ve never gotten anything into trending, but my most popular models have really good photos that look professional. Sometimes I don’t really care about that because it’s not really an upload that has any chance to be popular, but that’s my biggest tip.
Everyone else is probably spot on about marketing your designs, but I don’t have it in me to do that. Just keep putting up quality designs with thorough, earnest descriptions and good images and you’ll be surprised at what takes off.
