I have a model with a single print profile. That print profile shows 19 downloads, but the model page shows 9 downloads. I’ve noticed the same is true for several of my newer models with only one print profile. How is it possible to download a print profile without it counting as a download of the model?
I’ve noticed my model creation rewards have gone down more than my print profile rewards lately.
Profile downloads count for more points than model downloads and they are two different things. Profile downloads include the model.
In fact, there’s more to it than meets the eye. MakerWorld no longer counts all downloads.
The download numbers should be the same, but they aren’t.
I’ve been looking into this for a while now, but since I haven’t been able to pinpoint the cause yet, I haven’t published anything about it. But it’s a recurring issue throughout MakerWorld.
I haven’t been able to identify a clear pattern yet, but it seems to occur more frequently among users who post in these categories and/or use MakerLab tools. But it happens in other categories as well, though not to such an extreme degree.
You can’t even say that every second download is not counted - it’s been completely random so far.
It’s good that you reached out, because now we have someone for the first time who’s provided their MW profile in this context - several of your models are affected: Even if it’s not quite that extreme, you’re definitely affected by it.

To prevent malicious downloading or printing behavior, the system applies certain limits on how many downloads or prints from a single user can be counted toward both model downloads and profile downloads. As a result, it is normal for the download counts of print profiles and models to show inconsistencies.

Still seems odd that a download can count towards the much lower print profile rewards but not towards higher model rewards.
Thanks for the feedback. So, in a nutshell: Either they don’t want to say it, or they don’t know because their filter settings are too aggressive. We have some cases where 50% weren’t counted, so 1k instead of 2k. Furthermore, it’s completely random.
As long as the backlash from the community isn’t strong enough, Bambu won’t respond. The message you received is just a generic, meaningless text. However, it fits the pattern that Bambu wants to keep draining the points system - as evidenced by the fact that fewer and fewer boosts are being handed out.
In short: This is the beginning of the process of devaluing the point system.
So,
If I download the print file on my phone whilst on the way home on the train. Decided that I’d like to print it. I then fire up my comp and download the same file a second time, and run 1 copy from my computer and none from the phone, that it should count as 2 in your points list.
