How often do you use adhesion glue?

Hello, guys
How are? I am comming with a question regarding the adhesion glue. Do you use it every print or for example every second or third print?

For PLA, with textured plate. Never.
Cant comment on any other combos.

I agree with @PaulJF its almost never with PLA on the textured build plate. I have printed smaller objects and larger ones, if I run into any lifted edges the next print will be including a brim. I suspect this will be improved further once I install the P1S kit though being able to keep a more consistent temperature.

No glue for me for any material

PLA and PETG - textured plate
ABS, ASA, PC - high temp plate
nylon - garolite g11 plate sold by vpsdata in belgium

I use the engineering plate when stuff stops sticking, I wash it with soap and water then us ipa and the as far as petg and pla goes they both stick great.

I never use glue. I print with PLA & ABS on a high temp plate. Only time i wash now is when it just wont stick. Prolly from me touching the plate.

For PLA never on the textured plate - I do the very occasional IPA clean, try to wait until plate cools, and usually allow auto brim, and occasionally add mouse ears if there is any lift off on big prints.

To aid removal, For PLA on the cool plate I usually add Bambu liquid glue before most prints, mostly just in the areas that contained the previous print and occasionally where the two prime lines at the edge of the plate go.

Only if using the cool or engineering plate and then it would be only a thin coat every 3-4 prints. PLA / PETG / ABS If you don’t use it, it sticks to the plate too well.

PEI plate never, but only normally print PLA on this.

I like to clean the bed with IPA and then coat the whole bed with the liquid glue. I dab it all over and then spread it even with my finger. I place the next few prints over areas that still have glue until its all gone and repeat. I only do this for ASA and nylons. Everything else sticks with no glue

I print exclusively on the PEI Textured plate with PETG/PETG-CF/PC/PC-CF and haver never found the need to use glue. I do on occasion use a brim but more often then not I print without a brim.

I keep my textured plate free of finger prints/oils with Isopropyl alcohol.

I print exclusively on glass with PETG or PLA. I always need to use some type of adhesion.

Where did you get glass that will fit the x1 carbon.

Thanks, one more question how do I hold the glass plate down?

You’ll need some type of clamps (like these). You can find bed clamp models on Printables or wherever you usually download models. And then customize as needed to fit your bed/glass.

I don’t use it except sometimes on abs.

I keep all of my plates very clean and do level before every print and have not had adhesion issues.

On my PEI plate I always use 3DLAC, same as on my Engineering plate. Only on my cool plate I don’t use 3DLAC, i use windex and works like a charm!

Why do you chose glass over Cool plate/ Engineering plate/ PEI plate? I actually would chose any od these over glass haha

Glass makes the printing surface flat. Also, I like the smooth finish it adds to the bottom of the printed parts.

But don’t you have a lot of adhesion problems. I could hit the printers out of frustration on multiple occasions haha, just couldn’t get the parts to stick. 3DLAC, glue, scratching the glass, cleaning the glass. Doesn’t matter what I did :joy:
