So what about the refills and the old spools “PETG BASIC” with old RFID tags ?

Can we put the new refills of PETG HF in old spools with “PETG BASIC” RFID tags ?

My understanding is that each refill comes with its own RFID tags. The previous RFID tags are removed when loading a new refill.

Oh, ok, i thought they were attached to the spools (and not to the refills) … indeed if it is included at refill level, there is not questions here. And indeed, after checking some refills, you are correct, thanks.

It does say on the store that it absorbs moisture quicker than PETG basic, which (given that I have to dry my PETG basic about once a week) should be fun

And will there be more colors ? I would really like a “dark grey” one. Like :

Two things are always true in this situation.

  1. Yesterday I order a lot of filaments from multiple ranges and today a new product is released.

  2. The U.K. (and japan) are left out again!

This is what I should see.

This is what I do see.

Notice anything missing? Where’s Waldo (or Wally if you’re from the U.K.).

Seriously, again, even the international store for those countries who don’t have local country based warehouses get the new filament!

Almost all products in the U.K. store are out of stock.

I can’t get hot ends for my printers for a few more weeks. Filaments are entirely hit and miss. New printers are a month away. This doesn’t happen in the other stores, I checked all of them.

@BambuLab why are you treating the U.K. store and it’s customers like the ginger step-child (very badly)?

Stop storing it in the bath.

Here is a direct link for the UK.

Thanks, weird they didn’t add it to PETG Filaments page.

It looks like @NeverDie called this one in the post on the discontinuation.

All I can say is that competition is good. But Bambu still isn’t getting it, or maybe they think they can command a premium of 50% to 90% just on the basis of an RFID and a fat spool that “promises” not to clog the AMS. Or maybe they just don’t care since they don’t keep sufficient stock. Perhaps their business model is to “skim from the top.” Filament may not be their focus, so why not just service those customers who don’t look at price and take only the top 10% of buyers? It’s a strategy that Wall Street loves.

Let’s do a comparison. Bambu, consider this market feedback at no charge.:wink:I am using two competing filaments of like-quality that I have recently used numerous times and posted about. Note that these makers have similar direct service from their websites as Bambu but at a lower cost. For this purpose, I am using only Amazon terms and conditions for comparison.

Single Spool Multi 4 Spools US Shipping Ship cost Return Policy
Bambu PETG HF Spool $25 N/A 3-10 days $7 No published policy but anecdotal data posted on this forum states only unopened and only at Bambu CS approval which can take weeks. Also noted was that customer pays return freight.
Bambu PETG HF Refill $20 $60 3-10 days Free for bulk orders over $49 No published policy but anecdotal data posted on this forum states only unopened and only at Bambu CS approval which can take weeks. Also noted was that customer pays return freight.
Elegoo Rapid PETG on Amazon $13 N/A 1-2 Days $7 or Free for Prime members No questions asked. Open and partially used accepted
CC3D PETG $14 N/A 1-2 Days $7 or Free for Prime members No questions asked. Open and partially used accepted

Bambu continues to charge a premium of between 50-90% higher with unfavorable, vague, or questionable return privileges, as well as the legendary poor response time and poor freight carrier performance. Not to mention the unfavorably long shipping windows, frequent unavailability, and inconsistent quality, as has been noted numerous times in this forum. One has to wonder what they are thinking.

I guess the same goes for folks who buy the product two. Why pay 1-2X for something you can buy elsewhere with fewer downsides? Of course AMS users exempt.

And already sold out colors…nice!

Hello there,

I want to respond to your comment about pricing, Bambu Lab and the competitors.

  • All I can say is that competition is good. → very true, competition, if it is fair, is good for us, the customers.

  • I observered in various topics, that the mindset of todays society is shifting more and more into the direction of “supreme quality and cheapest price” which is quite the sad thing. Quality always comes with a certain price, because everything else would de-value the quality aspect. Am I a fan of overpriced items? am I a fan of paying too much, just because of brand name XYZ? No. Do I believe Bambu charges too much? Hard to tell, when I dont have insights into every filament suppliers supply chain, manufacturing processes, quality control, the quality of the raw materials, wage of the employees and much more.

  • So, you are talking about “the” Amazon. Where is the competition for Amazon, to make Amazon better ? What happens with returned unused goods? Are they really being put back into the supply chain or are they thrown away? Todays society starts crying, if something takes 2-3 days longer to deliver. They got used to fast delivery times and now, everything must be delivered in one day.

I live in Germany and so far, I did not have any problems. There is a supply center not to far away from my home which is certainly beneficial. Even if it would be in nothern Germany, it would still be quite fast. Their filament is great and is running well for me. I also like the RFDI technology. In the past, I have worked in the plastics processing area and I know, good raw material cost a certain price, if you want high quality. Therefore, I am okay with the prices I pay.

They also don’t announce last buys or provide roadmaps for what they are planning that some even with hobby-class printers need for the projects they are working on.

It’s a bit rude to be partway through a big project only to discover you can’t buy more of the filaments you’ve been using and what you can buy doesn’t match the other parts of your project.

They are actually driving some away from their filament but there is probably some bean counter somewhere waiting for the pain to decrease sales enough that somebody actually decides to care.

It’s great there are new filaments. Too bad for the “suckers” stuck with unfinished projects they won’t be able to complete. I guess the lesson if you’re doing something big is buy everything you need at the front of the project. Or use other filament.

Funny how people first complain PETG sold out and discontinued and now they complain that the replacement is available, not cheap enough, not available yet or already sold out. It seems that the only line of logic is that people complain, period.
I just got the bulk sale discount and free shipping and got the colors I needed. Happy to stop buying the cheap Creality and expensive Polymaker filaments

And complaints about complaining…

All I’m asking is they stop announcing stuff as it is happening. Give people time so they don’t have multiple spools of filament orphaned or left until they can be used in some other project, or a big pile of parts that can’t be color matched.

You realise all those things can be true and discussing it is not complaining for complaining sake as you imply.

You got lucky.

As others including me have pointed out, that is NOT their experience.

Bulk sales do not always occur, the stock is rarely always available, and different territories have less luck than others.

This launched in the U.K. without a link to the product and half the stock was unavailable in refill and spool options. This is launch stock.

The other U.K. filaments choices have less than 50% with at least one option, let alone two fill types.

These are facts, this was true before the anniversary sale, during the anniversary sale it was far worse and since it is the same again.

Weird.

The dichotomy with that is off the charts.
