"Irrelevant Contest Models = Removed & 50 point deduction"

thx

yep - nothing to add - you’re absolutely right. for me some stuff is getting more and more arbitrary…

Personally I think that’s the wrong decision to remove your entry from the competition. It’s a clever and very much car related design. To remove it and then not inform you is also crazy.

Keep up the good work.

Is it for the Car interior aka the cabin? No? Then it doesn’t fit the contest criteria.

I see it’s back in the competition now, along with many other designs focussing on the exterior of the car. In this case it seems common sense prevailed.

thanks for your words

in the meanwhile I created a report (related to the model) by my own asking for clarification. it seems like this caused a review → the model is visible again  despite I’m glad to be back I still don’t know why I was hidden nor I was notified that the state changed (again).

please @MakerWorld notify the designer about such action via system messages

seems like we both checked at the same time

Yeah I’m with you, I saw it and it’s pretty lame for that verified user to take advantage of the contest like that

I didn’t want to blatantly name them and I honestly hope they see the concern from a fellow designer. Myself and 3 others might not have a huge following or tens of thousands of downloads or a “Green Check Mark” but at least I know were getting something positive from the community an honest way.

I strive to get there one day but ultimately we run a local and statewide business. We work with a global leader of electric wheelchairs… Idk I just got real discouraged and down when I seen that and it’s like… whats the point man?? abusing a beta system? That’s not even a good look for himself…

Just sad. but thanks for showin some empathy :call_me_hand:t4:

Or they just don’t care to loose 50 points.
They are certainly gaining way much more in the long run. Makerworld gives us 100 more points on the first 50 downloads. So if they know they will easily reach 50 downloads and above 50 points is nothing for them.

For the record, I’m a verified user but being verified doesn’t necessarily means you are popular. It just means that you have imported some of your models from another platform.

And as I never submitted a model to a contest, I’m not a big fan of your idea to make verified user only contest ^^`

I guess the issue is more exploiting the contest as way to gain visibility, “by paying 50 points” like an ads.

Maybe they should double the amount of points they loose each time they have a model removed from the competition.

You can get banned for multiple violations of this type, so the 50 points is more like a warning shot.

I’m not quite sure I understand what you’re trying to say? If you’ve never submitted into a contest then this would involve you?

Now the verified designers that do frequently enter now if a contest was strictly for them as a whole, now that’s an even playing field. Because it would be sure to have them compete against each other on skill levels plus see who’s determined to sit down and model day in day out.

I wish I had hours and hours to sit down in 1 sitting to model but I don’t since I have a career. The whole point in the end was to suggest this whole dynamic change completely because it’s not going to last…

They’re building MakerWorlds model base quickly then once it’s not the fad anymore it’s just another file hosting platform. Let’s be honest here, if it wasn’t for points no one would be here as a designer…

I’d like to say I wouldn’t care either way for points or not. But if we’re doing this the “fair” way then let’s actually be fair… because it definitely isn’t.

Well I guess should’ve read the terms. . I swore I did and what I find interesting is that it clearly states you can’t upload an old model to the contest. Yet there’s one from October lol

Point 8 : “Apple is not a sponsor…” ?! Weird!

I was referring to this:

But by reading your last message, it’s seems that’s not really what you had in mind. So nevermind

Looking over the latest contests, the users need to have the possibility to report irrelevant submissions, the Vehicle Cabin contest is filled to the brim with nonsense, and it’s very frustrating we can’t report them.

Hi,
You can report them in the model detail page. For now, select ‘Other’ for "Reason for reporting’ and provide the reasons why you believe this model is irrelevant. We will soon upgrade our reporting system to provide ‘irrelevant entry to contest’ as a reason for reporting.

@MakerWorld Please release a statement fully covering who/what analyzes these reports.

The fact sometimes when a report is filed and its very clear it violates a rule, its removed within minutes.

Yet if there’s an account with conforming uploaded models but 1 instance of a non-conformance model nothing is done. .

There needs to be clarification as to what or who makes these decisions because even reporting clear rule violating models in or out of contests, they never seem to be removed.

Additionally, consider integrating another dropdown menu to facilitate the selection of the relevant contest when making reports. This enhancement aims to streamline the reporting process, minimizing the effort required for users.
