Is this cheating?

What an interesting idea: take some popular animal sculptures (some of them Exclusive), make them “low poly” and put into the Exclusive Model Program.

Look at this “genius” on the Makerworld community. (You have to read bottom to top)

I don’t know if that’s cheating (maybe not), but I’ll post this as a curiosity.
I’ve noticed that 4 accounts use exactly the same setup for photos. I mean print profile photos, because model photos are renders. The conclusion is that it could be one and the same very busy person

It’s gotten to the point I don’t even know when I can trust my own eyes now. I was looking at some of the print profile photos and I’m not sure but some of them look like they might be photoshopped in front of that background… if they are they did a good job making them look legit. Or you could be right and they might be the same person. OR what if someone has started a service for all the people who use AI and don’t have printers… for a fee they print your model and take the print profile pictures for you lol.

Now let me ask a question… is it ok to take a model under the CC license and list it as a “remix” and change nothing? If you credit the creator? I’ve seen several accounts recently where they boldly credit the creator but it’s the exact same model, and they really dress up the listing to make it look professional. Here’s an example:

then it’s not a remix and should be reported

Is this allowed these models look the same the one just has text added

They also have thousands of downloads on those models and they were uploaded a few days ago.

I also saw these and as the first model is exclusive, the second is not allowed according to the exclusive rules (it has to be included in the first model).
However, I saw these a lot, a popular model is published as v2, v3 and v4 without any significant change or just deleted the v1 and publish the same model as v2.
But, all in all, it doesn’t hurt anyone (beside of Makerworld’s budget)…

Yeah, that’s my overall take on it. I’ll report anybody who rips off designers and deceive users. But if somebody wants to take their chances with the MakerWorld incentive systems while still providing useful stuff for users I’m not bothered enough to file reports

Create all your model photos using AI and earn money effortlessly, just like this scammer: Mini Groot Figurine by Layered Studio - MakerWorld

If it’s allowed for him, then it’s allowed for everyone! Upload 100 new models per day using bots, and nothing will happen to you!

Or is it fake. Just 1 AI photo lol

I think you are looking for a topic like this?

I’m just here to figure out if Bambu messed up my payment, not if anybody is using AI to flood MakerWorld

Bro, as you can see, my model doesn’t have the “Exclusive” tag, even though it’s awesome and only available on MakerWorld: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1071404#profileId-1124839

Meanwhile, a scammer’s model (and I’m sure there are many such accounts) is gaining insane popularity, has the “Exclusive” tag, and no one cares.

People are giving him boosts for a fake AI-generated image when they could have given them to you, for example.

Do you see why I’m writing this? You need to talk about this everywhere.

Otherwise, nothing will change, and scammers will keep making easy money.

I think this is a bit off topic and should be moved into a different thread.
But I already mentioned those issues many months ago when the issue with those coloured and AI generated lithophanes started.
Makerworld create categories for those models but it did not end the flood of always same models and questionable images.
I reported one user who managed to upload over 40 models in a single day, claiming to have print profiles and real images of the printed models.
All AI generated fakes…

When Makerworld started with their own AI generators the place was already filling up with bogus creations, many of which clearly violating copyrights and IP rights.
What strikes me is that it seems no one at Bambu has any concerns.
Quantity matters more than quality or being original.
I checked on what the 3MF format is really capable of and what would be possible with Studio.
Let’s just say it would be no problem at all to ensure anyone uploading models and claiming they really printed them on their Bambu machine will be exposed if that’s not the case.
Same for AI generated models.
The header of a STL reveals the program used to create it or export it.
Most of these point hungry fake users don’t even bother to load the STIL into some cad program to save it with a proper header, or to just edit the file header.
Seems more and more scam users are waking up to this and no longer include the STL files, just the 3MF file.
The 3MF might reveal the folders the user used but gives no indication what was used to create the model.
Needless to say that Bambu does not have any new user restrictions or upload restrictions in place to prevent abuse…

Maybe some people and mods agree or have some additional input on the matters at hand…

Long rant and some concerns, read if you must...

Quickly move quickly merged, so nice if a mod pays attention…

As said many times before, in a system where quantity matter more than quality it is hard to keep high standards.
It it would be made mandatory to include the original STL, STEP or other matching 3D files most of these fake users wouldn’t know how to change the header and could be exposed before the model even gets published.

Leaves the question of why and what can be done.
The main issue is that users get rewarded for their uploaded models and print profiles.
It is the same issue that drove me out of Instructables many years ago and the main reason I am so reluctant to share my models.
Bambu needs to clean up Makerworld, ban a ton of users and establish some binding ground rules that will be enforced.
As said, it is not too hard these days to expose fakes and AI creations, same for restricting new users, especially those who upload far more than the average and with questionable intentions.

Let’s face it…
There is more than enough AI tools available to create all sorts of models and literally every month we can find new services popping up.
Are those AI created models bad ?
Some are, some are even better in terms of mesh quality than what real creator do in Blender and such.
In the end it comes down to what the users want and like.
Some can’t be bothered to feed an AI with what is needed, some have no clue about how to create a model at all but they all love printing things they find suited or good.
The time WILL come when the majority of non technical models will be mainly AI based.
Make me a cute looking wiener dog…
Don’t like the colour, give him some patches of white and black…
Ok, but make it much longer and give it a smiling face…
Whatever you can image AI WILL create it for you…

Having said all that and ranted enough in the hope some of it falls onto a listening ear…
The flood of never ending contest, the ability to get pints for so many things that translate into real world things like filament or even a new printer…
Now the move to give creators the means to host exclusive models and to earn real money…
Just think about it for a while…
Who has the real gain here, who makes the real money and where are the priorities?
Despite all my ranting, Bambu is still quite new in the game and started with a big bang.
Are they outrun by their own success? Maybe…
Did they wait too long to get more trained staff to deal with the matters at hand? Probably…

They all play the same game. bind your customers, provide incentives and grow the userbase as fast and high as you can.
Ever click translates to real money, might only be few cents or for some things a fraction of a cent but multiplied by enough clicks and views…
I moderated forums, I was a featured author several times at Instructables and I had my fair share of other platforms over the years.
When I started it was all about the user, all about the creativity, all about supporting those creators who keep standing out.
But ALWAYS is ended with programs where money is involved one way or another, where uploads were enforced to follow ‘standards’ and worse.
I am in the game now for almost 3 decades and with no offence or false impression I can say that I have seen it all - from start to finish and that several times.

Bambu is already past the point of easy (content) control and maintenance.
The daily flood of new posts topics and models requires more man power than what is available.
And despite all my rants it seems I was wrong stating Bambu already heavily relies on automated bot systems and automated checks.
From where I am standing I would say now that Bambu was outrun by their won success and ambitions.

For a while I played with the idea to check what it takes to advance to a moderator status here.
Sometimes I see post or topics that should not be there in their current form or some other things.
You know, the old old moderator status in forums kicking in and the need to provide and uphold certain standards.
But then I look back at my moderator work, all the hours invested and what little came out in return while all the hard work still meant a lot slipped through or that at times I acted to harsh on a users who just posted or replied to something in anger.
I see the need for help so many users cry out for but also have my reservations toward Bambu and the Bambu ways, especially in regards the the whole ‘safety’ debacle.

A good forum, similar to good hosting site shines through user interaction and response.
Bambu seems to have worked hard to ensure there is at least a certain level of oversight and checking now.
But like everywhere else where a cheat has it easy to make a gain Bambu keeps falling behind everywhere at times and often it takes very long to provide solutions to things like Hueforge or AI models.
They finally made progress by offering creators to earn real money through exclusive models and such.
I would appreciate taking this a few steps further.
Create a real reputation system, here in the forum and over at Makerworld.
Outstanding users could advance from user over respected user to whatever based on the replies, topics or responses in general.
Creators could see similar benefits of their status while new user are subjected to certain restrictions.
No system of this scale can keep growing without enough active humans, be it paid or volunteers.
Let’s wait and see what the Bambu future holds…

Why one would want 5 accounts? I barely can handle one!

To cheat, to have spares if one is taken down for the obvious reasons…
No legit users needs more than one account.
A big creator might have two, one for business and one for private use.
5 raises at least five red flags with me…

To be fair he does have real images on his print profiles, the quality is dubious at best, the gnome door even has supports left on in profile pic

the only reason i think people are going this way now is that what i can see is a new account can be prone to get more views as its new… meaby some users find it more rewarding ? Hard to tell… but imo users that put a lot of time should get more views compared to newer users wich just clone their accounts… its should be that overtime you get popular when you level up ! not just by creating a new account as everyone is doing, i believe there is a reason why they do this and makerworld should look into something that would make the account take time to become popular
