Wondering how you all have solved your spools jumping in the AMS. Usually when I get down to 2/3 of the spool, the AMS struggles to change back and forth on a spool giving me errors after errors. Just wondering how you all have solved that problem. Thanks

There’s a bunch of spool weights on Makerworld. I used this one - it uses batteries to get weight. You can fill them with other things - nuts, screws, etc.
I’d just stay away from sand or anything like that which could get in threads and jam up. Spool weights will spin with the spools and you don’t want particulates being sifted out and into your AMS.

If you look for AMS saver on MakerWorld, they will also help with entanglement. I no longer need my dedicated spool weight holder since I installed some.
Lead Shot worked great and it ran like a charm once i added this thank you for such an amazing fix

I did a search AMS Saver and came up with over 600 models… So what one/s do you recommend ?
Is this happening with standard Bambu spools? Or cardboard spools with a plastic ring on them? Is it more prevelant on one brand or another?
I’ve never had this issue and genuinely curious.
It depends really. I’ve had it mostly on cardboard spools but have had to add weight to a bambu spool every now and again.
It’s not a huge deal when you know what it is.

The ones I use were taken down as they were probably nicked.
What I’d look for in an AMS saver is
- A long PTFE to pick up the filament at the spool rather than the short versions
- Ease of installation (simple slide on)
- The AMS light still being visible after installation
- Optional: A crossbar/Triangle where the filament is picked up from the spool
Note though that I have found them really usefull with the original AMS. My AMS 2’s don’t need them (at least when refills are properly massaged)
