Labelling Filament Colors

Please allow text labels for filament colors. The small color swatch is not enough for me to not get confused. For example Bambu makes multiple colors that are similar within the same type of filament.

I’d love for more specific labelling of Generic filament too, but I realize Bambu probably is unwilling. But they should label their own filaments more clearly.
Also, something something accessibility, color-blindness, disabilities.

I don’t have an AMS, but I am surprised this isn’t supported yet. I think this was requested back in December with this post.

Bump. This is pretty annoying. I have gone so low as to physically label the filaments in the AMS. Even when only using Bambu Brand filament, I still can’t tell what exact color I have from any of the software. I see no reason not to write the color. You know, some people are color blind right?

I do have an AMS and I loaded up a couple of shades of brown and copper and I had a hard time distinguishing between the Copper and the Brown.

Wouldn’t it be great if Bambu added User defined labels and Bambu Automatic Labels to the colors?

I am partially color blind and can’t tell variations in color. I really need to Bambu Studio to label (text friendly name) the colors that the AMS detects (not just the color blob).

It doesn’t solved the larger problem with the labels but my workaround is to 1) print a Benchy for each new filament I get before using and 2) keep a spreadsheet of the spools with color information/ type etc for anything in the AMS. Not the best way of doing it but it helps keep things straight for what things will look like and what I have in the system at any given time.

Still can’t label filament, but your printer can report back to Bambu labs EVERY print you make. That is a bit annoying. Someone look at Iron Grey Metallic on a spool and tell me the difference from a PETG Black or a PLA Black. Ridiculous

All my filaments are similar colors, I can never figure out what’s what.
Color swatches are useless.

Labels would be great. And what about 2 and 3 color filaments? It would be great if we could pick 2 or 3 colors in the filament color picker so I know what I have loaded and what I used when I look at my print history.

I do what Kastjoe does.
I test the filament by printing a benchy, I write a number on the underneath of that benchy.

I also put a number on each spool, that number corresponds to an entry in my filament spreadsheet where I can tell exactly where each spool is i.e. in what drybox/ams slot etc.
In that spreadsheet I can record all sorts of things invluding the colour names, supplier details etc.

This keeps my filament supply in a neat easy to identify list.

ISTR that I have seen a label system that allows you to take the details from the box and pout them on the side of the spool.
