Language chinese typo?

It would be nice to have rules to state the description in english at least, we do see a lot of chinese description here and there come by, I believe makerworld is english website ? so it would be nice to stop seeing chinese or asian typing in the description as we dont even understand a thing, Ive tried google translate and its just horrible translations. thank you

This is not just an English site; it’s designed for makers all over the world. With that said, it would be great if MakerWorld added more translation features.

I wish it was easier to browse all the non-english things. I feel like there’s parts of Makerworld I’m missing out on.

Microsofts edge does auto translate (asks) which works well for me

Ahh, I mean just finding them. I use Chrome’s translate. It works fine enough for most things, I think. I’ve wondered though, but I guess Makerworld is a pretty international setup, so there isn’t really localized versions with content we’re missing out on.

Because of the language differences though, it might make it difficult to find things based on keywords, as like a Chinese designer might not use English in their descriptions or keywords, but all I know is to use the English words to search for said item.

Started to think about this one day when I came across a few post that weren’t in English as such, and it kind of dawned on me that if it weren’t for that item finding it’s way on trending, I might not have seen it. I ended up following the related items to find all sorts of non-english stuff I never knew existed.

Have you tried just translating the keyword into the language of choice ? and searching that way
i just came across this å”žå°”č¾¾å¤§åøˆä¹‹å‰‘ę”¾ē½®åŗ•ē›’ which shows in search and google too

Well, sure, in theory! I don’t usually give that much thought to things when just chugging along though. It’s just when I get caught down rabbit holes that I start contemplating the greater meaning of life, of content in languages I don’t currently speak.

This is a good idea though. I just tried a few keywords for something in a few different languages. It’s a fresh selection, and unlike the English keywords, it’s not overwhelmed with irrelevant things!

yeah so everyone should put their laguages instead… as for example i will use french. my friend will use spanish. and so on and so on… then everyone would just need to use a translator to have broken down translations that barely make sense ?

The thing is, not everyone speaks English, so it’s not realistic to make it a requirement. There’s a lot of non-english speakers that accommodate me, even on this forum where they translate their messages to English! I appreciate it a lot. If someone post in their native language, I’ll give the curtesy of translating using google translate or something and try my best to understand. I would for you too, if you posted in French.

Je ne savais pas que tu parlais franƧais, donc c’est intĆ©ressant. Êtes vous FranƧais?

;D

I’ve suggested in the past it might be useful to have some inbuilt language tools on the site. A lot of web browsers do have those tools though, as someone pointed out to me.

Maybe it’d be useful if Makerworld did a search translated function, so one could easily search for keywords in different languages.

oui je suis quebecois mais je trouve seulement que l’anglais es universel

I am sorry, but I find this statement arrogant and offensive! There are a lot of models in Italian, French, German, Spanish, Russian, and Portuguese as well. I don’t understand most of these languages, and I believe most people here on Makerworld don’t either. Why specifically single out the ā€œAsianā€ languages?

sorry the idea was not to target only asian laguages, its just its the only one we see on the community mostly, like I said, imagine everyone having to upload models with all our native languages instead of just using english, everyone would just have to use translator to read what the actual files, models or description and assembly just to see if we will actually download the model? personally it doesnt make sense to me. but no I dont have any hate towards anyone here I personally like asians so its has nothing to do with that. its just the way of going back and forth to translate what it says I find it a bit hard to follow sometimes. I wouldnt mind if the model would have both languages but at least english so that we can actually understand what it says without us to go into a translator. Even on the bambu handy app I cannot translate it unless i use some sort of app and copy paste the whole text. Thank you

Moi mon plus je ne savais pas. Bonjour de Belgique

That’s two excellent ideas.

I think is on cult that the content is automatically translate. It’s very convenient. More than using Google translate ^^

The multilingual search tool would be awesome because like you said I also have the filling I’m missing a big part of the model available on MW.

Because that’s what you use.

yeah and even if you change the language… id say that 95% of all models are only writen in english anyways sooo… my point still stands that english is universal language and understandable to mostly all users but other languages are harder or need a translator.
