Hi,
As you can see from the pics; I am having trouble getting some, but not all of my PETG parts to have a decent first layer.
I know you won’t believe it but I had the filament in a dryer for 13 hours.
I saw this post, which seems “a bit” similar, but not exactly the same issue - but there was no solution provided
Any other suggestions?
First layer speed suggestions
Room dehumidifier (should I get one, will it really help)
Using Polymaker Lite PETG (cuz the Bu Labs PETG-HF is sold out still)
It could be wet filament but that won’t reveal itself until you’ve had multiple layers. This is clearly a first layer adhesion issues. Until you have that part remedied, one cannot truly diagnose if the filament is wet.
Before you waste any more filament and time, do a first layer test.
Does the Bambu slicer software have a function (menu option or something) to perform a calibration?? I always, when I print anything, include the bed leveling option.
This would not really help either. Filament, especially PETG, is best considered wet on arrival. Those bags they come in do slow down, but do not stop moisture ingress. After an extended sea journey…
So a $60,- filament drier, a bunch of vacuum bags and some dessiccant satchels (ideally those you can dry in a microwave) are a good, affordable investment when printing PETG.
After getting a big bottle of dishwashing liquid, dishwashing brushes and maybe some gloves for the plates
Yes. On the Device Tab in the upper right you will find “Calibration”. This is to perform a machine calibration. It can also be started from the keypad on the machine under “settings”.
Ohhhh I have a Creality dryer. The thought was using a room dehumidifier in addition to the drying. Actually cleaning the build plate worked like a charm.
