Light burn and bambulab

Official com from light burn :

Light burn maybe compatible with the R1 :star_struck:
A gooood news :

If you’re in the maker world, have eyes, and existed on the internet this week, you probably saw some very positive buzz around Bambu Lab 3D’s upcoming R1 laser.

We’re excited too, for a couple of reasons. First, a lot of us at LightBurn are 3D printing nerds, so we know Bambu’s reputation, and we knew they were going to build a great laser. Second, we’ve been working closely with Bambu for months to be able to provide full LightBurn support for their machines. We work with many great vendors in the laser world, and we were thrilled to see Bambu join their ranks.

Here’s where we’re at: in 2.2 (coming soon, and available now in early access), LightBurn will have the ability to create and export G-code compatible with the R1. You’ll need to use a special device configuration file provided by Bambu to do so.

In 2.3 (coming in the not-too-distant future), we’re planning for more support: direct connection, all the R1’s special features, and the complete start-to-finish LightBurn workflow.

Going forward, we can’t wait to see what Bambu comes up with next, and to continue working with them to make sure LightBurn users can take full advantage of all they have to offer.

As a current Lightburn user, this makes me happy.

It’s a bit too early for April 1st. We all know how well Bambu works with other slicers.

It is not a hoax.

This is also not a Bambu 3d printer.

Are we sure we are talking about Bambu Lab or someone has a goldfish memory?

They pulled exactly the same stunt with FDM. Allow and encourage 3rd party slicer to just yank the rug out a few years after that.

I do not remember Bambu being supportive of Orca Slicer. It mainly worked because it was a fork of Bambu Slicer and therefore shared the code. Bambu were always trying to sabotage Orca with crazy code patches.

For them come out and say they are partnering with Lightburn is quite different.

You can go through BL blog posts, starting with X1+ root, and then towards authorization control to see how narrative shifted over time.

But to be honest, you do sound like a Bambu apologists.

So much different… where have I seen this before… aaah yes!

And this is the result of that “partnership”.

To the point where BL support started to gaslight their own customers for purchasing officially licensed nozzles by BL.

So this picture, IMO is a perfect representation of all those partnerships with Bambu Lab.

It seems that both companies managed to co-operate to make the nozzles work, so I am not sure why you think they have been sabotage each other.

Bambu system cannot even detect their own fancy build plates sometimes, they don’t need to sabotage anyone else to make it stop working.

Kind of doubt this tbh. LightBurn has historically been very poor on these stuff. Worth keeping in mind just how basic most lasers are, none of those smart features and micro tuning. It’d be a complete 180 for both and Bambu will have to share a lot of stuff, or even create these stuff themselves directly in lightburn.

In any case, just doesn’t make a lot of sense why they’d spend such effort on what really is kind of the complete opposite of what their target audience would likely want (as in, user friendly appliance grade software).
No jab at anyone enjoying lightburn, great news for those.

I do not remember Bambu ever being happy with Orca Slicer (which was originally named “Softfever Bambu Studio”)

I am having trouble finding these old articles to see if they ever were.

Bambu’s attitude towards MQTT has changed from supportive to not supportive; is it possible you are thinking of this?

A link would be helpful.

I think I heard someone on a release video state that there was going to be an honeycomb bed addition to the r1. Does anyone have any info on this from some sites?

Has anyone seen any reviews of cutting long wood. While you might be able to cut 600x1500mm 12mm plywood, I have a table saw to do that safely, but what I can’t do is detailed cutouts so looking for information on that.

Seems you’ll need a configuration file from Bambu lab to use early access lightburn 2.2

Has Bambu released the configuration file for LightBurn?? I’m anxious to get it connected.
