Anyone out there have any ideas why I might be seeing these lines? I’m printing at standard speed on a P1S using the textured build plate, a 0.4mm nozzle with Amazon Basics Silk PLA. I originally had the top surface set to Monotonic Line but then tried reprinting using Monotonic and also disabled ‘Only one wall on top surfaces’ as I’d read on another post that this would be helpful for this issue. The results were pretty much the same as you can see. Top layers are set to 5.
I believe it happens because of the way the slicer determines which path to follow. If you watch it put down the last layer, it will usually start from one edge then if it encounters a hole or corner it will continue up one side before returning to the last line. By then the filament has fully hardened and I think this is why you get a line showing. You either need to set the top layer really slow, like 40 or 50mm/s, or try ironing. I still haven’t been able to get ironing as good as I could in prusaslicer but that was with a Mk3s, so it was likely the printer. I don’t think the Bambu nozzles shape or material (stainless or hardened steel) are as suited to ironing as brass V6 nozzles but that’s just a theory. It also wouldn’t work in your situation as you have some features sticking up from the surface. Secondly, I don’t think it will work with satin and it will make it look flat, not glossy. Your best bet may be to redesign so you can print these upside down so the first layer on the smooth bed becomes the top.
