Maker's Supply Creator Incentive!

It’s 2,000 points, not $2,000 USD.
How did you get from converting €40 to $20 equaling 244k points??!

$20 USD is equal to 245 points
It takes 490 points per $40 USD gift card.

244,708 points would = $19,960 USD with 198 points left over.

I basically wanted everyone that plans to design mechanical models to be aware of this and how it could potentially provide more traffic towards the everyday designer model base.

I don’t see our page getting 5,000 downloads in 24 hours… even in 5 years BUT i’m taking my time and that’s a benefit im seeing from this incentive. If I’m able to put out a well constructed build project, no major revisions need, first 100 download reports are trouble-free and it cost under what filament does I don’t see myself loosing anything.

Like I stated up top, my first project is a simple design but will utilize 3 components with optional add ons to better the experience and i’ll be going a step further to add some “STEM” education as well. Lots of people think arduinos or rasp pi’s are taboo and require tons of knowledge therefore people hold themselves back from even trying.

  • Arduino’s / Raspberry Pi’s = Microcontrollers
~ You add a sensor (eyes, ears, nose) + Brains (code) + Actions ( Fan, LED’s , or servos)
    ~ Boom you’re a engineer

The talent comes in when you start adding multiple actions and cause/effects. I suggested Maker Supply carry a more versatile microcontroller (either develope their own, or carry elegoo’s clone of arduino which is $15 versus arduinos @ $20+)

  • Breadboards (solderable, solderless)
  • Aligator clamp wires
  • Rubber Fin Fans
  • Photoelectric sensors

This is the start but as long the prices are kept fair I don’t see why it wouldnt work out great!

I’m excited and hopefully this will bring even more people together to collaborate and develope crazy builds. I hope my first project will simply gain attention to the engineering and designing it’s taken me and some others to create. There’s models similar but no where near the aspect of it being semi-autonomous

Conversion rate, I have added above. And although currently 0.93 EUR = 1 USD, you have to spend more points for a gift card in EUR than in USD. However, this is probably due to the exchange rate used for the conversion. 1,06 USD = 1EUR was 30/10/2023.

Btw, I commend your work on that model. Very well done and makes simple & elegant use of a few components which I think will be the best way to achieve downloads/buyers.

Although I like the other 2, I don’t see someone willing to follow all the steps and purchasing the hardware for the dino or use of the infinity gears. Hands down great designs and would take myself a long time to do but only dedicated makers will take those steps and I’m not sure if there’s 1,000’s of those people yet.

Goal is to keep it simple so everyone can do it but also add some STEM aspects, get people to think out the box and cost low. I’m still at discussion with my team to see if it’s worth allowing commercial use for this or not but it’l all depend if anyone even likes the model… *fingers crossed

And where is “Maker’s Supply offers a comprehensive “library” of non-printed parts for both designers and makers, featuring physical and digital twins. The library contains fasteners, magnets, bearings, hardware, electronics, and tools, allows easy purchase and reference to prevent mismatches. It provides detailed dimensions and digital models, eliminating the need for manual measurements.”?
I don’t see anything for “Mouse Kit” “Lamp Kit” “Boat Kit” or “Clock Kit”.

At the bottom of each product in the Maker’s Supply section there are 2 buttons, one to download 2D assets and one to download 3D models of that specific component. Some have documentation on how to use it as well.

So yeah, it’s all there

Thanks! Took me quite a while to get it to work smoothly and have it all setup for easy printing. I’m hoping to see a lot interest in the community/userbase for these types of designs because I really enjoyed designing around those components and have a slew of new designs coming out soon that use them too

No, there is no any for “Mouse Kit” “Lamp Kit” “Boat Kit” or “Clock Kit”
I thought there is some library of all the models and I would find them there.

Ah those specifically, you’re right then, I don’t see them either.

Working with an Arduino (open source) is not always easy. At first it is. But I remember that it then becomes difficult if you destroy the software on the Arduino when programming by software.

There are still some good ESP boards (WiFi), with various extensions on board, which also have a display on them or something else. If you think about it further.

If they should offer MicroController one day I would highly prefer ESP32 dev boards. They’re the most versatile and cost effective these days while usually having no issues with availability because the ESP’s are mass produced for a ton of IOT devices. Another bonus is that they could be used for very popular Sofware projects like WLED for lights. Projects like WLED can even be flashed through a web browser so it’s probably as user friendly as a µC could get (still lots of hurdles for beginners).

The conversion rate wasn’t the confusion. I see now though you were using commas as periods. I was tired and didn’t catch that lol.

However I still think you’re confusing points with dollar amounts.
You say that if the model has $20 (USD) worth of parts that it is 100x20 = $2,000 (24471 points). This is incorrect. It’s 2000 points, NOT 2000 dollars, likewise with stage 2, it would be 300x20 = 6000 points.

Just have multiple! Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and ESP. I don’t think it’d be that bad if BL worked out deals with the manufacturers to get bulk discounts and then sold them at the same price sold elsewhere. The controllers get more visibility and recommendations from designers, a BL still makes money.

Honestly I purchased [5] of Elegoo’s R3 boards that us the 16U2 chips… looking forward to playing with these but they seem to be a top hit within the community as for price and function even features on board versus arduino brand

Back when my hands still worked properly, I used the Elegoo boards most of the time, the Arduino branded ones were more money for the same thing. You are paying for the name as the boards are identical.

You should move over to something like the ESP32 boards when you have used all the Elegoo ones as they are smaller, faster, cheaper and Arduino compatible.

am i the only person that forsees needless extras added to gain points from maker supply, and also forsee everyone thats average at 3d will flood the site with clock faces to use maker supply

The look on my Cogsworth clock when it read this comment…

ill have to do some research, honestly I’ve been out of using MC’s for quite awhile and never really got in depth with the tech anyways. Fast forwarding 5 years, now I am. So thanks for the input since you’re the 2nd person thats recommended that chip board

When I first learnt about the Makers Supply, I read it as being able to provide a single and consistent location for users to determine what they may need outside of the the printed parts and purchase it from BL easily if available and for items not available from BL to be listed as well with links to where the designer purchased their gear.

I’ve used the Makers Supply section for a number of my new models and chosen the items BL has listed.

The Problem
I tried to find M3x30 bolts in the BL section to realise they don’t provide them (the extremely popular rugged parametric box requires them). So, I added the name of the item and a link in the other section and the BL parts was empty.

NOT ALLOWED

If you choose the option that says my design need non-printed parts, you must include at least one BL item or you can’t use it. You can’t just ‘write-in’ the parts if BL doesn’t provide them.

Then do not select this option! So far, we have always uploaded print profiles and linked them in the additional files or directly in the text components. Mostly from Amazon. However, some users have started to add affiliate links from Amazon articles. However, you will then probably not participate in Bambulab’s in-house programmes with this design.
