Makerworld "community" tab was a big mistake

you can just report them and click the option spam… i guess makerworld will take care of it, thats what i did for those asking for boosts lmao

I haven’t said otherwise and have promoted my most recent uploads.

Not sure what content you are referring to as I imagine you agree posting off-site contests with real or fake prizes is covered under spam, which was what I was specifically referring to.

Related solely to what I was talking about.

SPAM or commercial content is banned and can be reported, even if MW does nothing about it.

Makes sense :stuck_out_tongue: thanks for clarifications

That person seriously posted “I will do whatever you want forever” for a printer that cost $199. That’s got to be a kid. Many, MANY laws are being broken here (allegedly ).

I think this has been answered now.

This is part of the complaints here, they often don’t and the one I highlighted as did others has been reported by many of us has gone unanswered. The same account has since posted many more each subsequent day.

By @MakerWorld not putting a stop to it at the start, they are making it clear they welcome anything and everything despite what they say.

Action trumps words.

Now using boosts as an entry. Nice one…

Oh good, they’re gonna cancel it. (like they really freaking had one to give away )

Now he canceled an ongoing contest without disbursing the advertised prizes… the crimes are still stacking up (allegedly lol). Can someone please get Squaroot’s parent or guardian on the horn??

I know no one has time to be reading lengthy legal articles so here’s the TLDR. In the US for a contest to be illegal it has to have 3 things:

  1. Prizes
  2. Chance (picked, drawn, etc… no skill involved)
  3. Consideration (asking the contestants to do something or not do something)

I’ll just leave this here:

This is all alleged of course…

Thanks for all of your opinions. Our community feature is still new and that there are still many room for improvements. While we see some contents and features that our users enjoy, we are also experiencing some spamming and advertising contents that we would want to remove.
Our team is currently working on a community user guideline and will update it with some of our rules and requirements for community content in the coming update.
Thank for your patience and support.

Will the rules it puts in place be followed by your staff when we take our valuable time out to report models (in that example)monkey for your staff to say the rules aren’t relevant?

A constant nagging annoy gripe many of us have.

I see you removed the contest posts from the person we mentioned that seemed to be the biggest offender. Thank you. Currently the main feed is still full of people asking for boosts and/or downloads. One thing I think you’ll have to work on is the number of minors who have created accounts. Does Makerworld have a minimum age?

Haha, ahh. I’m sorry, but the community tab is mostly just a stream of e-beggars. I’m half tempted to start posting pictures of my filament collection on each one of those polls asking for boost and likes. I shouldn’t be so ornery, haha.

I still like the Following sub group to the community tab though. I follow quality designers, so that feed is top notch

Anyway though,

  • Boost this post for more great content like this (quality of content subject to change without notice. No actual guarantees of quality or frequency of content. Nothing of value will be gained by engaging with this other than making me giggle)

Someone got a dictionary as a recent gift.

This is the only one they should have added, the other one with every message flashing through was only ever going to be a mess.

It attracts the type of spam it gets as it is like fly paper, it never had a chance and without proactive moderation it never will.

BL have no interest in proactive anything, based on their actions and the latest message which sounds like “we have a plan to make a plan”.

More guidelines they will selectively enforce, targeting the small guy who may not know better whilst ignoring the biggest offenders.

I love a good dictionary, it’s delightful. What I really need is a thesaurus. That’d be deliciously enchanting. It really helps my writing to be more delectable when I can get my hands on one. I find it fascinating seeing all the different word choices, enjoyable even. I think it brings a more satisfying read really, to break up one’s word choice like that. Anyway, all of this is very captivating, but I’ve got some other thrilling bits of work to focus on, so pardon me.
